The "Open GL 3.3" and "-1018" error messages may occur during the install process or when launching an ON1. This problem is a Windows-specific issue and is easily resolved by updating the GPU Driver and configuring the ON1 program to run off of the high-performance GPU. However, you will first need to make sure your machine meets our minimum requirements. The full system requirements to run our current programs can be found here.
Your machine must support Open GL 3.3 or higher with at least 512 Mb of dedicated video memory. If you are not sure whether your machine's GPU supports Open GL 3.3 or above, you will need to check the manufacturer's website.
Once you have confirmed your GPU is compatible, you will need to update your GPU driver and reinstall the ON1 application to fix this error. You will be able to download and install the latest GPU driver from AMD, NVIDIA or Intel's website by clicking the link below:
**IMPORTANT NOTE**
It is critical that you visit the manufacturer's website to download the latest driver update directly from them as updating thru the Windows Updater build into your OS will not give you the latest driver.
After updating your GPU driver, please reinstall your ON1 program. You will be able to download the most current version from our Downloads for Owners page or from within your User Account on our website.
When the download is complete, please right click on the .exe file and choose "Run as the Administrator" to launch the installer.
How to configure ON1 to run off of the high-performance NVIDIA or AMD GPU
After completing the install, if your machine has a dedicated GPU from AMD or NVIDIA, please open the NVIDIA or AMD Control Panel (depending on what brand is installed on this machine) and make sure your ON1 program is configured to run exclusively off of this GPU. Please note, the steps below are only needed if your machine has dual graphics processors. If your machine only has one GPU, you will not need to follow the steps below.
NVIDIA Users:
1. Right click on the Desktop and choose "Nvidia Control Panel":
2. Within the NVIDIA Control Panel, click on "Manage 3D Settings" on the left:
3. Click on the "Program Settings Tab" and choose the ON1 Application within the Dropdown Menu shown below:
4. Add the ON1 application to run exclusively off of the NVIDIA GPU:
5. Click "OK" and "Apply" to save these changes and restart your computer.
AMD Users:
Important Note for AMD users: There is a huge variation in versions of the ATI/AMD Radeon Catalyst Control Center for adjusting the settings for these cards so the following should be seen more as indicative than actual. Even if your Control Center looks different to these images, the principles are the same and you should be able to find similar options to those described here. Full instructions are also available on AMD's website here.
As mentioned in the NVIDIA instructions above, you will need to open the AMD Catalyst Control Panel or similar program for managing your AMD GPU. Please note, the AMD GPU control center may vary depending on the GPU model on your machine. It will likely look something like the screenshots shown below
1. Right click on the Desktop to open the AMD Control Center:
2. After launching the Control Center, it should look something like this:
Newer models may appear like the screenshot below. Click the 'Gaming' tab instead.
3. Expand the tabs on the right to show "3D Application Settings":
4. If applicable to your graphics card, go to Graphics > 3D and move the slider across to Performance so it is set for Optimal Performance. Click Apply. NOTE: This function might not be available on all ATI models. For models using the "Additional Settings" option, you will be able to add a program to run off of the AMD GPU shown below:
For newer models, click the 'Add' button and select Browse:
Use the Explorer window which appears to navigate to and select Photo RAW 20xx:
Once Photo RAW 20xx is selected, click 'Open'.

Please note, if your machine does not have a dedicated GPU from AMD or NVIDIA and is equipped with the built-in Intel HD Graphics, please disregard the steps mentioned above to configure the program to run exclusively off of the AMD or NVIDIA GPU. Windows machines that have both a dedicated GPU (from AMD or NVIDIA) and the built-in Intel Graphics are the only machines that need to be configured to run off of one GPU.
