We recommend watching the short tutorial above before getting started with the new Compare Mode feature. Step by step instructions on how to use this feature are listed below.
Please note, the Compare Mode feature is a new feature that was added to the Photo RAW 2017 following the 2017.5 update. If you have not updated to the latest version, please click here.
How to use the Compare Mode in the Photo RAW 2017
First, open the Photo Raw 2017 and navigate to a folder of images within the Browse module. You will want to select the images you would like to compare and hit the C Key on your keyboard or click on the Compare Mode icon shown in the screenshot below to enter the Compare mode.
After hitting the C Key or clicking the Compare Mode icon shown in the screenshot above, your selected images will open in Compare Mode as shown in the screenshot below:
To give yourself some more screen real estate while working in Compare Mode, we recommend hiding the Browser Panel or Control Panel Windows. You will be able to hide the Browser Panel (Left side) or Control Panel (right side) by clicking on the double arrow icons shown below:
After hiding the Browse Panel or Control Panel (or both) we will have more screen to display the images in compare mode. This is shown in the screenshot below:
Next we will go over some of the features when viewing multiple images in the Compare Mode. In the screenshot above, you will notice one image is highlighted in blue. You will be able to select a different image by clicking within the image preview. Clicking within an already blue highlighted image will zoom in on this selected image and appear as shown below:
To make each image appear at the same zoom level, click the "Lock Pan and Zoom" option shown in the screenshot below:
Checking the "Lock Pan and Zoom" option will allow you to click and pan within all of the images in the compare mode simultaneously (real program usage will be much faster and smoother than the GIF below):
If the subject of one of your images does not align with the others, you will be able to uncheck the "Lock Pan and Zoom" option and pan within a single image in the Compare Mode View (real program usage will be much faster and smoother than the GIF below):
Once you have moved the image where you want, you will be able to enable the "Lock Pan and Zoom" option again to pan all images together.
To remove an image from your compare mode view, simply click to highlight the image you want to remove and hit the / Key on your keyboard:
