Version 2025 (19.0.2.16131) — Nov 11, 2024
This is a small update focused on improving the Generative Eraser and fixing a few bugs.
What’s New:
Generative Eraser
- Added a Retry option to the Generate button. The Generate button is now larger and says “Generate” on it. Paint as you normally would over an object you want to remove, then press Generate. If you don’t like the results, notice that the Generate button now says Retry. Just press it again to get different results. You can use undo now to step back through previous generations to pick your favorite. If you are happy, you can move on to another spot or press the Done button.
- We added a cancel button so you can cancel without saving any results.
- We made some internal changes to reduce generating new objects like people, animals, vehicles, etc in the place of the object you are erasing. This should occur less, and you can use the retry option above. A note of guidance, the Generative Eraser is meant for removing large or difficult objects. It is not a replacement for the Perfect Eraser which is faster, uses less memory, and does a better job on small stuff. Always try the Perfect Eraser first. Don’t use a sledgehammer when a finishing hammer is the right tool for the job.
- Reduced seeing the content moderation dialog when unacceptable content was generated. This was often garbage or distorted figures as opposed to NSFW content. That kind of unacceptable content should be reduced. Please note however, that if your photo contains NSFW content or you are trying to get it to create NSFW content, you will still see this dialog. This is a licensing requirement for the generative AI models which we cannot legally skip.
- Added a button to learn more about Stability and help you create an account.
Misc
- Changed the Tool Options Bars to be on by default, rather than auto-hide. You may need to reset your preference for this. We also changed the styling a bit to match the rest of the application window.
- Fixed the top crashing bugs.
Version 2025 (19.0.1.16074) — October 21, 2024
Generative Expand
Content aware crop has been improved with generative AI. This allows it to expand the canvas much larger with realistic extensions, containing details not in the original photo when needed.
Generative Erase
The next-generation of the Perfect Eraser now uses the power for generative AI to remove even large distractions like people or cars from photos while seamlessly filling the voided area with realistic details.
Stacking
Group similar photos together to speed up the review process and keep your folders tidy. This makes it perfect for grouping several shots of the same composition like a group shot. It can also group brackets of exposures or bursts of action.
Edit Color
The new Edit Color filter gives you a powerful way to target an exact color range and then tweak its color. You have exacting control over the hue, saturation, and brightness range of the selection, not just a single range control. Then you can make subtle color adjustments to tune the photo to your tastes. You can tweak several color ranges at the same time too.
Match Color
The new Match Color filter can take the color and tone from one photo and apply it to another. This is the perfect way to recreate the color grading looks from popular movies or to match two different layers in a composite.
Automatic Distraction Removal
The new automatic distraction removal can detect and remove sensor dust and power lines in your photos, saving you a ton of retouching time.
Improved New Canvas Dialog
Sometimes your creations need a blank canvas. With the improved new canvas dialog you can start with common sizes and fill the background with a color, selection or photos, or even the clipboard. Create your down preset sizes so easily start with the size you need. This makes it a snap to fit your image to a specific canvas size needed for social media too.
Depth Masks
Selectively blend or apply adjustments based on depth in your scene. Power AI models can infer the depth in a scene, even with landscape photos. This allows you to add an effect like lens blur that varies naturally throughout the scene, or make it darker the farther you get from the camera. It adds a layer of control and realism that hasn’t existed before.
Target Album
Now you can set an album as the target album, then use a shortcut key to add any photo to that album. It makes it faster to add photos to an album.
