- Fixed plug-in issues for users running on macOS Catalina
Issues Addressed in the 2019.6 Update
Adds support for Canon CR3 Raw files and addresses a handful of bugs. It is recommended that all owners of ON1 Photo RAW 2019 download this update.
- Canon CR3 Support — This release adds support for uncompressed Canon CR3 format Raw files from these cameras: Canon EOS R, Canon EOS RP, Canon PowerShot SX70, Canon EOS M50, Canon EOS Rebel SL3 (250D/Kiss X10). We are still working on the compressed version or CR3 files (cRAW).
- Added support for the Nikon A1000 and Olympus TG-6 cameras.
- Fixed an issue that could cause instability with Intel 5xx series video cards on Windows.
- Improved brushing performance, especially on low-end Windows video cards. This is an area we continue to improve on.
- Fixed several issues with keywording.
- The installer and application are now notarized by Apple.
- Several other performance and stability improvements.
Issues Addressed in 2019.5.1
This is a patch release for ON1 Photo RAW 2019 that fixes a handful of defects that were not uncovered until after it shipped.
- Capture Date Missing -- We have discovered an issue where capture date metadata is failing to parse correctly, leaving the capture metadata field blank. For new photos or photos in cataloged folders this will correct itself. For photos that have already been browsed and the capture date is missing, use the "Read Metadata from Photo" command. Note, this command has been updated to preserve the current star, flag and color ratings and will merge keywords.
- Crashing whilst Browsing -- If your sort order is set to Capture Date, the above issue could also lead to a crash when parsing capture metadata.
- Search and Smart Albums by Date -- Searching by date may fail to find any or all expected photos if the capture date metadata is missing. This also affects Smart Albums that search by date.
- Thumbnails and Previews Showing Ghosting or Artifacts -- In some cases, after editing a photo and returning to Browse, the thumbnail and fit-screen preview could have shown ghosting or artifacts. When you open the photo again into Edit it looks correct. This appears to affect smaller, non-high high-dpi displays more.
- Exported Photos Show Ghosting or Artifacts -- This shares the same root cause as the issue above.
- Keywords -- There where several issues with keywords including duplicates with different case, search results not finding what they should and issues with deleting.
- Border Fitting -- In 2019.5 we added a new option to the Borders, Textures and Vignette filters to adjust how the fit. In the past, they have always matched the layer. If you used the transform tool to make a layer larger than the canvas, the border would not be visible. We added the Fit to Canvas option to these filters so you can lock the border to the edge of the canvas in these cases. Unfortunately, this has caused confusion when you crop or make the layer smaller. We have made it intelligent and will turn this option on or off dynamically when needed now.
- Canvas size issues with medium and small Nikon RAW files from the D850, Z 6, Z 7.
- On macOS 10.14, the app jumping up when you are working on other apps.
- HDR could crash on save
- Several other performance and stability improvements
What’s New in 2019.5 (13.5.7007)
ON1 Photo RAW 2019.5 is a free update packed with new features and enhancements. Here are some of the biggest improvements and fixes:
New Features
- Dual Mode — Now you can have a second copy of your photos in another window. This is perfect if you have two displays and want a grid of thumbnails on one display and a magnified detail view on another. It’s also great for presenting your photos to a client with a projector or large TV. You can show them photos, zoom and compare without seeing the rest of the application window.
- History — Full history has been added when you work on a photo. You can see every step of your editing, roll-back and compare adjustments and easily revert to the beginning of your session.
- Setting Applied Info — Now you can view which modules, tools and filters you have used on a photo, even in Browse. Simply double-click to jump to a setting and adjust it.
- Selective Sync — When you sync your settings (or paste or save a preset) you have enhanced granularity in which settings to apply. You can drill down and only apply a white balance adjustment for example. You can even sync cropping, retouching and brush strokes between photos.
- Hierarchical Keywords — The master keyword list now supports nested keywords inside of other keywords. This allows you to organize your keywords as you see fit. You can even import a list of nested keywords from other apps Adobe Lightroom. Keywords in general have been improved too. It’s easier to search, add delete and modify them. They are also case sensitive now.
Improvements
- Layers improvements — When working with layers, you can create a new canvas of any size, then add photos to it. You can also change the size of an existing canvas.
- Text improvements — We have added a number of improvements to the text tool. First you can add a background color to a text box and control it’s opacity. Second you can control the character and line spacing. Third there are new options to duplicate and change the order of text boxes. Finally, you can automatically insert text from a photo’s metadata.
- Performance improvements — We have been working hard on improving performance when zooming/panning, brushing and exporting. You will find a new control in the preference to adjust the preview quality to improve the preview performance. Export is now faster when resizing, exporting individual photos or photos you have already edited.
- Local Adjustments — Local adjustment layers now layer and compound on top of each other like filters instead of layers like they did in Photo RAW 2018. Plus they are faster to brush and adjust.
- Windows High-DPI — We have dramatically improved support for high-dpi displays on Windows. The scaling of the fonts and controls work much better, especially on 4k displays and laptops.
- Soft Proofing in Resize — We have added the soft-proofing feature to Resize.
- Minor UX improvements — We have been working on usability based on feedback from users. We have added bigger tool-tips with a visual description of each tool, we have also renamed a couple tools to make them easier to discover.
- Drag and drop from film strip — You can now drag and drop photos from the film strip to the layers pane to add them as new layers.
- Larger range of thumbnail sizes — We have increased the range of thumbnail size, so you can go up to two giant thumbnails all the way down to tiny thumbnails so you can survey an entire folder in most cases.
- Preview the Resize Algorithm — When using the Genuine Fractals algorithm, you can now preview the resulting quality at 100% zoom so you can more accurately adjust the options and sharpening.
- Crop preset is remembered — The crop tool preset is now remembered across photos
- Search by adjustments added — You can now search for photos that have specific adjustments applied such as cropped, retouched, etc.
- Lr migration now migrates the pick and reject flags.
- Apple Photos Extension Improvements — Integration with Apple Photos now supports the full raw data, improving adjustments to tone and color. It also now supports re-editable non-destructive editing and more native ON1 Photo RAW features like layers, crop and text.
- Added support for these new camera — Sony SLT-A55V, A33, A6400, RX100VA, Olympus OM-D E-M1X, Panasonic FZ1000 M2, TZ95 (ZS80, TZ96, TZ97), S1, S1R, Ricoh GR III. Note we are still working on Canon CR3 support.
- Added lens profiles for the following lenses or non-interchangeable lens cameras: Canon EF 24mm f/1.4L II USM, Canon EF-M 11-22mm f/4-5.6 IS STM, Canon FD 200mm f/2.8 SSC, Canon PowerShot A1200 & compatibles, Canon PowerShot G1 X Mark III & compatibles, Canon PowerShot G3 X & compatibles, DJI FC2103 & compatibles, Hasselblad L1D-20c & compatibles, Huawei Huawei P10 Lite & compatibles, Huawei Huawei P20 Pro & compatibles, Leica DMC-LX10 & compatibles, Leica X Vario 18.0-46.0 mm f/3.5-6.4, Leica Camera AG Summicron TL 1:2 23 ASPH, Minolta Minolta AF 85mm f/1.4G (D), Nikon AF-P Nikkor 70-300mm f/4.5-5.6E ED VR, Nikon Nikkor AI-S 85mm f/2.0, Nikon Nikkor Z 24-70mm f/4 S, Nikon AF Nikkor 24mm f/2.8D 54, Nikon AF-S Nikkor 18-35mm f/3.5-4.5G ED, Nikon AI 80-200mm f/4.5 Zoom, OLYMPUS M.12-200mm F3.5-6.3, Olympus M.Zuiko Digital ED 14-150mm f/4.0-5.6 II, Opteka 15mm f/4 Wide Macro 1:1, Panasonic DC-ZS200 & compatibles, Pentax smc Pentax-A 50mm f/1.4, Pentax smc Pentax-F 28mm f/2.8, Samyang 10mm f/2.8 ED AS NCS CS, Samyang AF 35mm f/2.8, Sigma 14mm f/1.8 DG HSM | A, Sigma 18-300mm f/3.5-6.3 DC Macro OS HSM, Sony DSC-RX100 VI & compatibles, Sony E 18-135mm f/3.5-5.6 OSS, Sony FE 35mm f/2.8 ZA, Sony 35mm F1.4 G (SAL35F14G), Sony Carl Zeiss Planar T* 50mm F1.4 ZA SSM (SALF0F14Z), Tamron SP 70-300mm f/4-5.6 Di USD, Venus Laowa 60mm f/2.8 2X Ultra-Macro, Venus Laowa 9mm f/2.8 Zero-D, Voigtländer Super Wide-Heliar 15mm f/4.5 III, Zeiss Milvus 1.4/50.

Use it with layers to replace skies or with filters to selectively apply them quickly.

ON1 Photo RAW 2019.1 includes improvements suggested by users as well as bug fixes. It is recommended for all users:

Whats' New in 2019 (13.0.0.6139)
- Combined Workflow — We've combined all of the modules to create a single place to do your editing. The different editing modules are now available as tabs to allow you to work in each seamlessly at once.
- Non-Destructive Layers – Want to combine multiple raw photos together and keep all the non-destructive settings for each photo, no problem. Layers are now at the heart of editing in Photo RAW 2019. You can combine multiple photos or copies of the same photo as layers. Each layer can be moved, sized and masked. But more than that, each layer is live, with its own non-destructive settings just like any photo in Photo RAW, all the way back to the original raw data. That means you can adjust powerful raw features like exposure, highlights, shadows, even camera profiles as part of a layered photo, all without having to change modules or applications.
- Align Layers – Combine multiple photos together as layers, then automatically align them based on image content. This is perfect for aligning a hand-held bracket of photos.
- Focus Stacking – Combine a series of photos taken at different focal lengths to create a hyper-focused stacked photo, where you control what is in focus.
- Text Tool – Now add text on top of your photos! Use it to create a poster, add your byline or add editing annotations. You can control font size, color position, etc. Even save a preset to add the same text overlay to a bunch of photos at once.
- Portrait Module – The new Portrait module automatically detects each face in your photo and can retouch and smooth skin as well as brighten and sharpen eyes and whiten teeth all at once, with no brushing required.
- Improved Local Adjustments – Local adjustments are even more powerful than before. You can bring back the highlights and shadow details with more tonal range.
- Updated User Interface – The user interface has a fresh, modern feel. We have reduced the contrast overall to make your photo stand out. A new font increases readability and new sliders take up less space.
- Master Keyword List – Now you can see every keyword you use in a single, searchable list. You can quickly apply or clear keywords, edit them or delete them.
- Import Lightroom Settings -– If you are tired of paying of Lightroom, we have the solution for you. Now you can seamlessly migrate your Lightroom catalogs to Photo RAW. Not only does it move your photos, albums, and metadata; but it also moves your edits and keeps them non-destructive so you can continue to edit them. In can migrate almost every edit you can make in Lightroom including basic raw processing, crop, retouching, local adjustments, etc. Now you don’t have to fear that years of work would be lost moving to Photo RAW.
- Updated Filters in Effects – We have added dedicated film grain, curves, color adjustment filters to Effects. This lets you add film grain to color photos and make advanced, targeted color and tone adjustments faster. We have also improved the Vignette filter for a more natural look. There’s even a new filter selector that allows you to search for filters, learn what they do and even view a sample before you add them.
- Other Goodies including support for HEIC files, keyboard shortcuts for changing modules, more accent color options, color labels on folders and more.
- Additional Camera Support — Added support for the Fujifilm XF10, Fujifilm X-T3, Nikon P1000, Nikon Z7, Panasonic LX100 II, Leica M10-P.
- Additional Lens Profiles – Added lens profiles for: Canon EF35mm f/1.4L II USM (750), Chinon Auto Chinon 35mm f/2.8, KMZ Helios-40 85mm f/1.5, Nikon 200-500mm F5.6 174, Panasonic LEICA DG 8-18/F2.8-4.0, Panasonic LEICA DG NOCTICRON 42.5/F1.2, Pentax Pentax SMC Takumar 50mm f/1.4, Sigma Sigma 17-50mm f/2.8 EX DC HSM, Sony FE 24-105mm F4 G OSS, Sony FE 50mm F1.8, Tamron 14-150mm F/3.5-5.8 DiIII C001, Tamron SP 24-70mm F/2.8 Di VC USD G2 (A032), Voigtländer Voigtlander Super Wide Heliar III.
