After installing ON1 PHOTO RAW 2021 you will find the plugins located under the following menus in Photoshop.
* If you are not seeing plugins installed in Photoshop like listed below, see this knowledge base article here
File>Automate
When launching the plugin from the File>Automate menu, a new layer will be created (except for Resize) above the original image layer when the plugin has been applied.
Filters>ON1 (Note: Resize is only installed under the File>Automate menu)
When launching the plugin from the Filters>ON1 Menu, the Filter will be applied to the CURRENT Layer and a new layer WILL NOT be created.
Note: Browse and Layers not accessible from within Photoshop.
There are two options for editing an image in ON1 Photo RAW 2021. Which method you choose depends upon whether you wish to be able to re-edit your image in Photo RAW.
EDITING A PHOTO FROM PHOTOSHOP WITHOUT PRESERVING CHANGES MADE IN PHOTO RAW
To use Photo RAW inside Photoshop, when you do not wish to be able to re-edit your operations, follow these steps:
1. Open the image you want to work on in Photoshop.
2. Select the layer you want to work on. Make a duplicate if you want to preserve the original layer (Layer > Duplicate).
3. From the Filter menu, select ON1 and then the Edit module tab you would like to start in.
4. When you’re finished editing your photo, click the Done button in ON1 Photo RAW 2021.
EDITING A PHOTO FROM PHOTOSHOP TO PRESERVE CHANGES MADE IN PHOTO RAW
To be able to re-edit your Photoshop images at a later point inside ON1 Photo RAW 2021, you will use Photoshop’s Smart Object technology. To do this, follow these steps:
1. Open the image you want to work on in Photoshop.
2. Select the layer you want to work on.
3. Right-click on the layer and choose Convert to Smart Object.
4. From the Filter menu, select ON1 and then the tab that you would like to use.
5. When you’re finished editing your photo, click the Done button in Photo RAW 2021.
To re-edit your Smart Object layer again inside ON1 Photo RAW 2021, double-click on the ON1 module name in the edited Smart Object layer in Photoshop. Photo RAW will then launch that module, and let you change your previous settings or make new ones.
NOTE: Smart Object re-editibility is not possible when you add a layer to your photo (in addition to the original, base layer). When you save your work, Photo RAW will flatten the image before it sends it back to Photoshop.
