Scratch folder location

If you intend to catalog a lot of photos then it may be best to move the cache to another disk as it contains the image previews of catalogued folders, so can get quite large. (The cache size refers to the working cache in memory and not the size of the disk preview cache)

If you can then the recommendation for best performance is to have a separate SSD for scratch folders and not mix with images or system disc/SSD. This spreads the I/O load across several channels so that disk/SSD access is less of a bottleneck. I do this and have put scratch files for all my photo processing applications on that.

I keep both the Scratch space and the PerfectBrowseCache on the same external SSD with its own, direct connection to the computer via Thunderbolt 3.
