Mist tutorial wanted
Hi, I can't find an ON1 tutorial to create an image like this...it is created with an overlay, not a brush and then edited to fit and altered with a brush a bit. I wish Dylan would do something like this:)

I am not that good at masking and I have been looking for an ON1 tutorial that will show blow by blow how to achieve the misty effect in the above image. I know it needs an overlay and not a brush and I can't find an overlay in the store the looks like this. However. they can be found elsewhere. It is how to execute this that is bugging me. I know it can be done in Photoshop so why not ON1?

That screams LUMINOSITY MASK! It will allow you to select just the mist or as much gray tone near it as you like.
Scott Davenport recently posted to his YouTube channel a series of video tutorials on all of the different masking tools and how to use them as well as when. I can't post a link, sorry. The system flags my posts and won't let them be seen until approved whenever I put in a YouTube link. Just do a search on Scott's name and you'll see them. They were done within the last couple of weeks and include the Super Select AI masking as well as the older tools.

I'm not aware of any tutorials. Off the top of my head, I can think of two ways to do this.
One is to use a cloud brush and a local adjustment set to paint with color. Paint in various clouds to get the texture that you want.
The other option is to use the Weather filter. Adjust it to make a blanket of fog in the density that you want. Invert the mask to hide the mist. Then use a cloud brush set to paint in and mask in the fog.
Here I used the weather filter to add the fog inside the circle.

My comments were made under the assumption that you are starting with a picture of mist and not wanting to create your own per Rick's suggestion. In the Luminosity Mask Video Scott specifically talks about using the Glow Effect with them to achieve realistic type glows like the one above.

Yes, you are unclear about whether you want to enhance an image that already has most in it, or to add mist to one that doesn't. If it's the latter, then it's sounds like you need to brush the mist in. There are lots of free brushes out there on the web. They need to have an .abr suffix to be imported in to PR.
There are tutorials out there on how to use custom brushes in PR.

I want to learn how to create an image like I posted….particularly the way the mist is,….it looks pretty authentic. If you are on facebook you probably have seen the ads for ckeverphiotographer and the packages he is selling for use with Luminar Neo. I tried one of them. Alll you do is drag a jpg or png transparent fog or mist file over your image and hit screen, It is real easy but it doesn’t seem to be so easy in ON1 especially if you want to edit the shape a bit. I am trying to use ON1 because I know its a much better programs and Luminar is kind of cheating and is rather limited. I can follow a photoshop tutorial on doing this but just cant get my head around the way to do it well in ON! Hence I am looking for a full blow by blow tutorial….Where is Dylan!!!

You're talking about image blending then. One with clouds and background.
You'd have to be a Plus member to talk to Dylan I'm afraid. Try Scott Davenport.
