if you had open Photo raw before look if it is not trying to backup the catalogue, sometime the backup windows is somewhat in the background, happend to me a couple of times whe i tried to update Photo Raw 2022, if that happens the update wont install and you have to redo the download again

If you're Auto updating from inside of Photo Raw then you have no control over the process. Try doing it manually instead.

Get a good installation file onto your PC by downloading manually from the link below. yes, downloading might be slow while everyone else is trying to download at the same time.

Once you know you have a good installer, make sure Photo Raw is closed. You could reboot your PC to make sure nothing is running. Right-click and Install as an Admin.

This is a long standing problem with on1 updates. The update starts inside of the app, then blocks it being closed until download is completed. And the update package does not, like every other update package in the history of the world, close the host app before starting to install the update. This is the thing that most annoys me about On1, almost to the point of being a deal breaker.

Then don’t update from within the program. Download the installer yourself and run it. Easy peasy.

I had same issue. Force quit the initial version, then downloaded updated version from ON1 website, less then 3 minutes later download completed, although there should be no need to reboot especially not on Mac, did that anyway just in case, installed it and hop running like clockwork.

I agree, it is bit annoying if you open an app, that app then starts autoupdate but nothing happens and you need force quit to get out. Just a little note in the install instructions to alert users to this potential phenomena plus how to resolve would have been useful.

But then again, no software company will ever admit that their "in app update" might not always work flawless haha.

Its a minor discomfort and easily resolved

Hope you've been able to work it out. As fellow member it is not my place to judge but I do hope this will not really be a dealbreaker for you, one time install frustration (how annoying they can be I admit) is easily forgotten once you enjoy ON1 in its full power. Have fun
