You can read up on the cache in this article.

The PerfectBrowseCache holds the rendered previews for all your cataloged images. It will grow as large as needed to hold all the previews.

When the Move button is used to 'move' the PBC to a different drive it isn't actually moved. A new copy is made. It's the same in the Finder or Windows Explorer; drag an icon from one drive to another and the original is left in place. Once it has been moved you can trash the one in the original location, most likely your boot volume.

    Rick, thanks for the article.

The problem is that recreating cache is never-ending process. Although PerfectBrowseCache after some time grows no more in size - processor load is still around 65%. Will be interrupted when switching to EDIT mode and after returning back to BROWSE it starts again doing something - and will not stop no matter how long you leave it to do its job (BrowserCache grows no more, but the process is still running)

I can confirm that. CPU load and data carrier very high. Process does not seem to end. In addition, the "On1Sandbox.exe" process is still heavily involved in the occupancy. The processes don't seem to end at all. Working in On1 2023 is not possible during cataloging. The Keyword Ai Scann is over. The data carrier utilization is on average at 100 MB/s. But neither PerfectbrowSecache including all subordinate nor Appdata/Roaming/On1 grows.
    What is written where?
On1 2022 did cataloging faster. And you had an info with the progress display of how far the process is. This ad no longer seems to exist.

Maybe it is time to contact tech support - I did it once - with original ver. 2023, they told me it is normal, will take some time and then stop. However it does not stop and continues on and on.

I'm guessing that On1 is tuning the catalog process over time. Cataloging in 2022 may have been faster but at the cost of bogging down the CPU. 2023 may be slower, but doesn't max out the CPU in the background. You can't have it both ways. At least now cataloging is suspended when in Edit to allow the masking brush to move more smoothly.

Cataloging will occasionally start up to keep itself updated. I think it could be done more intelligently, but for now, it's doing what it's supposed to do.

I assume that the catalogization process was completed yesterday. Judging by Task Manager and Process Monitor no longer judging ON1. Today I start on1 again and taged photos and first smart albums. And now the high CPU and data carrier load from On1 starts again. Always read - and writing processes. In the process monitor, what on1 reads for file. They are photos that On1 has already cataloged.
The load is so high that I almost no longer show any more and work with On1 is also not possible. I now let the process work over. If it doesn't get better, I go back to 2022.
