AMD really is being ignored by On1
11 days ago, ON1 published an article detailing GPU requirements for PR 2023, stressing that 2023 is in need of strong GPUs.
The URL for the article is: https://on1help.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/9867981409549-HOT-TOPIC-Video-Card-Requirements-for-ON1-Photo-RAW-2023
In the article, they detailed the video cards that they've been testing with.
-Windows AMD Radeon Pro 550, 560, 580
What I saw listed for Windows with AMD really pissed me off. Over the past 3 years I've had numerous display corruption problems with PR that did not happen in any other app. I've opened numerous tickets, sent screenshots, RAW and On1 related files, and video screen captures of corruption appearing, disappearing, and reappearing with just a nudge of any slider in the app. During this time, On1 always blamed these problems on the AMD drivers, even though they never saw the corruption themselves, and claim that no one else has reported them.
Now they publish an article admitting that they are only testing on AMD video cards that are over 5 years old! This is ridiculous. These cards are borderline obsolete. They haven't tested ANY AMD produced GPU manufactured in the last 4 years, which means that they also aren't testing with the drivers for any card made in the last 4 years. They have no idea what situations their users are encountering, and no way to test them.
Based on the array of NVidia cards that they say they've tested with (GTX 1070, GTX 2060, GTX 2080, GTX 3060, GTX 3070, GTX 3090), it's clear that they are keeping up to date on that hardware. (excluding the recent issue with NVidia drivers.)
If they are going to require that users need to use a certain piece of hardware, they should be required to run on that same hardware.
