How to questions please
AnsweredI am learning my 2023 On1 Photo RAW and have 3 questions please:
1. After I apply a preset, how do I undo it?
2. For some edits, On1 Photo RAW would generate a large tif file, while some would just have a small .on1 file. Can someone explain what would generate the large tif files?
3. When I make slide adjustments, it seems difficult to make small changes for some. How do I make finer adjustment with these slides?
Thank you.

David I will try to get this discussion started, I am new to ON1 also but here are a couple of suggestions. If you just applied the preset you can undo it with ctl/command Z, if it wasn't the last thing you did try going to the settings menu and reset effects which is where all the presets seem to be. For fine adjustments of sliders you can enter an exact number in the amount by swiping over the number. Don't know about the tif files but it may have to do with using layers which generates an additional file.
Hope someone who knows more jumps in here, good luck!

You can also make fine adjustments easier by widening the right column which makes the sliders longer and a bit easier to dial in.

If the cursor is in the numeric field for the slider the up and down arrow keys will increment/decrement by 1.
Adding new Layers to an image creates .onphoto files, not TIFFs. TIFFs come from Exporting or by using the Resize AI function. The edits themselves have nothing to do with new file creation except adding Layers as described. The edits are stored in the .on1 file and in an internal edits database.

The act of using a preset can add any number of filters or settings. CTRL-Z only works immediately after adding the preset. There are 2 options if you can't use CTRL-Z. One is to add another preset since that will overwrite whatever settings that you have. The other is to use Snapshots, but you have to remember to make the snapshot BEFORE you apply the preset to give you something to go back to.

That depends on what module you're using. The .on1 is a sidecar that holds your non-destructive edits. If in Edit, you add a second layer, you'll get an .onphoto file instead of .ON1. A TIFF can be created in a number of ways like Resizing or Send To to open the photo in another editor. Depending on what made the TIFF, it might be changeable in settings.
3. When I make slide adjustments, it seems difficult to make small changes for some. How do I make finer adjustment with these slides?
Depending on what Filter you're working with, sometimes you can reduce the opacity slider to 1/2 which will make the adjustment slider 1/2 as effective and that means you'd have to move it twice as far to get the same effect. A good example would be the Dynamic Contrast Filter. Making the Opacity 50% means you have to move the contast sliders twice as far for the same effect.

There is an undo in the menu’s that allow you to undo the last thing you did.

Command/Control-Z is much faster. 😉

Not for me. Mouse over and click in 1 move. No looking down at keyboard.
that’s why there is more than 1 way to do things.

Who looks at their keyboard? 😀 I don't use a mouse. When I'm editing I use a Wacom tablet. One hand holds the stylus, the other is on the keyboard for hotkeys.
