On1 Raw 2023 - How to manage filters (ratings) inside the "Edit" module
I can manage filters (rating) images in the "Browse Mode," but this option is missing inside the "Edit" module. How can I manage the filter within the "Edit" module?
I prefer not to go back and forward between the two modules when working on multiple sets of images with different ratings.
For example, "five" start images are a must-edit "skin tone," and "Four" start rating is regular edit. So I want to switch between these ratings in the "Edit" module."
Please let me know if there is any easy way to accomplish this.

Hello Brian, that is not what I was looking for.
I know I can rate a single image in the "edit" module as described on the link you provided.
What I want is the ability to manage the rating (filter) of the images within the "edit" module.
how can I enable the "filter" option under edit?

Exactly as described in that discussion. That person asked the exact same question.

Alfredo, I don't think it is possible to filter images in Edit mode other than to assign ratings, colours etc. as Brian has pointed out. In edit mode, you've essentially only one photo selected (the one you are editing) so there's nothing to filter. To my understanding, to use the Filter or the search functions to select images other than the one you are working on you have to be in Browse mode.

Richard, thank you for your answer. So unfortunate not to have the option to filter on both modules, yet the option to rate is on both. It does slow down the workflow process.
Imagine you are in the edit module with images filtered, and by accident, an image is rated differently, then you have to go back to the browser module to correct that.
In another scenario, go back to browser mode to select the photos to work on in the edit module, but if you need to see other similar images, then I must go back to the browse module to change the filter. Again, it's too much back and forward.
I'm done with my rant. It's probably just my workflow. (trying to adjust to On1 Raw after leaving LR)
Thank you again.

Alfredo, you're making it more difficult that it has to be. All the things you're trying to do are supposed to be done in Browse before you go to Edit. You're trying to force the Browse functions into a whole other module. Do your filtering in Browse and figure out what images you need BEFORE you go into Edit.

Rick Sammartino, you are correct, this should not be as difficult, but On1 Raw makes it difficult. On1 hasn't caught up to the masses yet.
I understand that you are pointing out the only way to do this, and we must conform. I don't mean to argue about this, but I am coming from the competition (LR), and they are minor features that make the workflow much more accessible. We all work differently and have different requirements, and software should adapt to everyone's needs, not to the few that are boxed into doing things one way.

Richard, to keep the conversation constructive. I like On1 Photo Raw, no questions about it. I edit photos frequently (weekly), so I am passing along my user feedback as these were the few things I noticed quickly on PR that affected my workflow. Any user reading this from LR knows this feature is a must.
I start by selecting my pictures here (as you indicated that PR users do) - simple. Then, I chose four starts for basic editing, five starts for advanced editing, and color for completed work.
Then, I move to the "develop" I filter to four stars, then right on the spot, I filter to 5 starts and mark completed as I go along with color - no need to go back to "Browse mode" to accomplish a filter and come back to Develop.
I am not here to call PR an ugly baby; I am looking for an editing tool to simplify my work. Thank you.

If I understand your requirements you want to switch between identifying 4 star and 5 star images mid-way through an editing session without going back to Browse to change filters.
One option would be to select images using greater or equal to 4 and then sort the results by ratings, then edit in film-strip view and scroll from the section with 4 star images to the section with 5 star images, and vice versa. If include no label in the selection then when you set a colour at end of edit the photo will be removed from the film-strip.

David Tillett yes, that it is correct.

Thanks for the discussion flow as I too wish one could change the way ratings are filter in Edit (e.g., my open questions on the capability was answered!). For example, I created a new version of a photo, applied a new crop and then changed the rating at which point it disappeared becaude of the ratings filter I set up in Browse where it was tied to a single color. I guess I will have to be smarter on the original Browse rating filter I setup to be more inclusive until I narrow my catalog down.

When that happens just use the undo command to undo that rating change and it’ll show back up in your filtered set again.
