ON1 Photo RAW Log (file) 21gb
A question to someone who may know if this huge file is necessary?
I have this large 21gb Log file located here: Users>Jim> AppData>Roaming>ON1>ON1 Photo RAW 2023 The file is a text file called "ON1 Photo RAW Log" and its quite large; 21gb
Is this file supposed to be here. My SSD Drive is running out of space and I don't know what's causing it and I'm trying to clean house a bit so to speak.

My log file is 2.2mb. I can't imagine why yours would be so large. It won't hurt anything to delete it.

Thanks Rick, it surprised me to see this. I'm going to delete it.

Interesting - mine is 4.5 MB. But under 2022, I found a log file that is over 4 GB. About 90% of the log entries were from 2022-10-05 - a single day!
c:\Users\CTaylor\AppData\Roaming\ON1\ON1 Photo RAW 2022\ON1 Photo RAW Log.txt
I moved it to a scratch drive (cheap spinning HDD). When I started PR 2022, it created a new 24 KB file.
I think I will send a report to ON1. There is no way they should be keeping such huge log files! They should be trimming them automatically.

I deleted the huge Log file and it just created a new one when I relaunched ON1. It doesn't seem to be growing at all though, I'll keep an eye on it for a few days and see what it does.

Jim, there will always be a log file. Every time you start Photo Raw the log will be updated and one will be created one if it's not already there.

I frequently delete my log file. Especially when I'm troubleshooting a reproducible problem and I'm going to send it to the company. I'll quit the program, trash the log file, then restart the program and reproduce the issue. Now, when I send it to support, that is the only thing in it or them to dig through.

Something haywire must of been happening for this file to grow to 21gb. PR2023 seems to be working okay for the time being though (knock on wood!)

I've reported the issue of huge log files to support. I have not observed that happening in PR 2022. I assume it's a known issue and ON1 is working on it. So far, I frequently delete the log. If more users report this problem, maybe there will be some higher priority to fix it.

Every few days I'm having to delete the log file, it grew to 13gb in just the last couple of days. Small task and price to pay (and remember to do) considering what I was dealing with a few of weeks ago.. Hopefully ON1 is aware of this issue and will fix it in the next update.
Other than that, all seems to be working fine with 2023 on my machine.

The size of my log file (Windows 11) is actually 22 GB (compressed to 2.3 GB on disk).

Had a similar problem. My log-file grew to about 17 GB. Deleting helps - for the time being. Although, just abandoned On1 Photo Raw 2023 completely.

I didn't shut ON1 down last night and when I woke up this morning I had warning boxes etc on my screen. ON1 Log file was 51gb and it totally maxed out my laptop SSD drive.
Something is totally loading up the log file for some reason. The last few times it was too large to open so I haven't been able to open it and look at it. I'm gonna try catching it before it gets too big next time and post some of the text from it and hopefully someone here can recognize whats happening.

Don't bother posting any of the log file here. No one here can read them. This is something you should report to tech support.

I'll send the log file to tech support.

I have files in my Roaming Files that go back to PR2020. This file is huge, so I am transferring all files in this file to one of my external drives. After the transfer I will open ON1 2023 to see if it works faster. If anyone thinks this is a bad decision, please let me know.

I have a 63GB Log plus and lots of background processes going on (I guess whatever is going on it is writing to this log file). Going to try deleting as I see no feedback on here that deletion causes a problem.

Deletion does not cause any problems, I do it regularly. The program will simply start a new one when it is launched the next time.
This is a known problem that the company says they've addressed for the next update.

OK. Thanks

I thought they fixed this with the last update?
I haven't had to delete this file since then.....

You're right. From the Release Notes for the last update.
- Fixed an issue that could cause the log file to grow large
Michael, do you have the latest update (build 13102)?

I have version 13102. I expect the log file has been there since I upgraded to PR2023
