HDR doesn't work in ON1 Photo Raw after last update to Version 2023 (17.0.1.12965)
When I select my seven raw photos from which I want to make an HDR, it opens as an HDR, but when Save, ON1 asks if I am sure to cancel and when I cancel that, the procedure stops.
I am on a brand new MacBook M1 Pro (14-inch, 2021) macOS Monterey Version 12.6, 32 GB memory.
After several trials, I got an error : HDR Error Could not recover from 1054 error. And then I even couldn't make an Panorama anymore.
I installed ON1 all over again, but after that the same thing started also all over again.
Please help.

Leonie, we don't have access to a list of error codes. You'll need to ask On1 support what it means.

Leonie, I'm running on a MacBook Pro and ran into a lot of issues when I upgraded to ON1 version 17.0.1.12965. I worked with ON1 Support but they could not help me. What fixed my issue was to uninstall ON1 Software and then reload ON1 Software 2023 that shows as version 17.0.0.12912. This corrected all my issues with the ON1 Software. I then loaded version 17.0.1.12965 and all my issues returned.
I then removed ON1 Software version 17.0.1.12965 and installed version 17.0.0.12912. Once again, my ON1 Software started working.
This is only my experience. As I stated above, I did work with ON1 Support first and that should be the first place you go for help. In my case, they were not able to fix my issue.

Kip Stahl, this is exactly what I wanted to do, go back to the previous version, because I had other minor problems too. But I don't have the previous version anymore and I cannot find it on the website.
I would love to go back to the verson of 17.0.0.12912. And then wait for a better update. Does anyone know where I can find this version?0 -
Leonie, You'll need to contact ON1 for that version of code.

If you didn't keep a copy of the installer, the only way to get an older version now is to contact Tech support and ask them for it.

Thank you!

Leonie, I have exactly the same problem with HDR, did you get a fix from support ?

Do you also have a MacBook Pro M1?
I didn’t get a fix. I didn’t ask for one. This was not my only problem. I just wanted to go back to the former version of 2023. So I asked for that. To get the former version to work, I had to do the manually uninstall of ON1 2023 version 2, so also remove everything in the librairy as instructed. Then to build my catagory all over again, but now it al is working beautiful.
It is although good to mention your problem to Support, because I am convinced that it is a bug which need repair.0 -
Hey thanks Leonie, I have a M1 Macbook Air, HDR isn't a must have for me at the moment and everything else is working really well so I will log a support call, I don't really want to back to the previous version.

Leonie, what Language are you using? What happens if you switch to English and try the HDR again? HDR works for me on my M1 Mini. I'm wondering if the problem is language specific. Knowing that would help the engineers get it fixed.

Brian, I am using English. I am sorry to say, but the Dutch translation is terrible. Only usable for people who don't understand English.
I am back on the first version of 2023 now after an manual uninstall in which I removed everything from the different librairies. Now HDR works perfect and the whole versio also.0 -
I asked because the screenshots are not in English. I'm glad it is working for you again.

That Dutch was because I manage a Facebookgroup "ON1 Photo RAW Gebruikersgroep NL" in Holland where I support ON1 users. I was testing something for a user who uses Dutch. And then I forgot to go back to English. Sorry!

When you were troubleshooting this originally, did you try a Delete Settings? That would have deleted your preferences files the same as when you removed everything before reinstalling. Corrupt preferences can cause a -1024 from what I've read.

Yes, I did. I also did a reset en even reinstalled.

That is odd. Again, glad it is working again. 😀

Me too!

We can close this subject. I installed the latest update of 17 november and I can now make a HDR.
Hurray!0 -
I started to receive the 1054 code today when I was attempting to load simple 3 .CR3 image HDR sets. Eventually, I went back to another folder where I didn't have the problem a few days ago. I was able to load image sets without any errors. After that, I returned to the folder where I had been receiving the 1054 error and successfully loaded image sets that had previously errored out. Very puzzled!!!
I am running On1 PR 2023 (17.0.2.13102) on a 14 inch MacBook Pro with an M1Pro and 32GB of memory.

I would compare the differences in permissions and ownership for the folder that worked vs one that doesn't. Same for some of their files. There has to be something different between what works and what does not.

I think that there are still issues with HDR within PhotoRAW. I tried to create an HDR from three images that I had successfully created an HDR from in 2021/2 and got an error message about not enough suitable files to do the merge. However if I sent these same images to standalone On1 HDR 2023 November update then everything worked.
Other sets of images do work in PhotoRAW.Bug report has been submitted.

David Bristow, I think I know the reason for the 1054 code I encountered and mentioned in my opening question. I have my catalog on Synology NAS and afterwards I believe during my trials I lost contact with the NAS. The 1054 code was afterwards not a problem of ON1, I believe.
Not starting to save the HDR was the only problem during the second update of ON1 2023.
In the new version On1 PR 2023 (17.0.2.13102), I have no problems anymore with ON1 and by now I also solved my problems with the NAS. I found out, that SMB is a much more stable connection as AFP for Apple is. (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k6tYroePtGs&list=PLYl5sY0sL98jIUrsE0QQzlNw3utuad1Pd&index=8)0
