Bloated On1 folders
AnsweredDespite having an external Scratch drive, my On1 2023 folder in Application Support is a massive 40GB plus. Most of this is taken up by two folders: NDService, which has several core_bak folders, each of which is close on 5GB. And PhotoSettings Cache, which is over 16GB and consists of TIF files, many of which are just blank or else they are actual images with a green tinge.
I'd like to know if any of this can be deleted, since all these folders now occupy about one sixth of my entire internal drive!

No! Do not mess with either of those folders. Those are part of the database the program uses to track your edits, Presets, Styles, etc.
Have you moved the PerfectBrowseCache to an external drive? That can free up quite a bit of space if it is sitting on your boot drive.
FWIW, I have 18,162 images in my cataloged library. My NDService folder is 33.88GB and the PhotoSettingsCache is 10.82GB. My ON1 Photo RAW 2023 folder (inside Application Support) is 45.99GB. You can see those two folders take up most of that space.

Yes, my PBC is on the external SSD and is about 90GB. Seems as though the folders for On1 in App Support occupy about the same amount of space as yours and I guess I have to live with it.

One other thing you could check to save space ... I just looked and half the size of my ON1 folder in Application support is folders from the 2022 Apps that I uninstalled once I was confident in 2023. I assume that if we have installed and run ON1 2023 and deleted the 2022 Apps, it is safe to also delete the 2022 folders in Application Support as all those catalogs/settings are now migrated to 2023. Just as long as you never want to go back to 2022. Extras folders are also quite large, I guess I've accumulated a lot of extras.

My 2022 folder is minimal and my extras are a couple of GB, mostly my own skies.

I have an Windows laptop. I've been worrying over the space being used up by and Unknown source for the last few months. Today I deleted almost 300 GB of .tiff files that looked like garbage from the PhotoSettingsCache file in my User Folder under the ON1 folders. Then I edited a couple photos on the ON1 2022 program and it seems to be working just fine, maybe even a little faster. It did immediately put about 43mb of data back in the same place, but I can live with that. It looks to me like you can delete these .tiff files, at least if you don't plan to re-edit the photos. I assume there is a way to save those files to a different drive, but it appears that I don't need them.

Katherine, if you're using catalogs and don't need the previews, change the size to minimal to save room.

I do not recommend doing that. You've deleted previews and the program will simply recreate them when needed. The program will manage the contents of that folder for itself and you should let it.

I followed Brian's advice and have left the folders as they are, even though they occupy about a fifth of my internal SSD.

Something I forgot to mention is the Empty… button in Preferences > System > Browse Cache. See page 257 in the User Guide for details along with the Knowledge Base article Catalogs and Caches - ON1 Photo RAW 2022 & ON1 PHOTO RAW 2021 for complete details on how the program uses its 2 preview caches.

That helped. At least it will Empty some of the 300GB of files in the Browse Cache. Thanks. :-)
