Slow rendering
When I bring up a photo in the edit module it takes 5 to 10 seconds for a photo render and include its’ edited data. This also happens when I am browsing through edited photos.
I am using a 24” M-1 iMac. I am also using a SSD for the browse cache and scratch.
Is there a way to speed up rendering?

Most of our tips are for windows, but there may be a few that might help.

This is normal. It takes my M1 mini 5s to open an unedited RAW file. There's a lot of AI analysis going on when the file is opened.

The files that I am referring to are edited raw files. Before they are edited they snap open.
Once they are edited they open quickly but they appear without the edits and in about 5 to 10 seconds the edits appear and they look fine. Is there away to speed up the process?

Photo Raw isn't just loading the image, it's loading and rendering the edits as well. 5 to 10 seconds is already a pretty good speed.
I've already posted all of the speed tips we have in my last post.

Thank you Rick and Brian. I guess it is what it is.

On my system Photoshop takes even longer to open PSD file with similar edits using adjustment layers. Downside of being able to go back and adjust editing at later stage.

I'll note that On1 2022 feels significantly faster on the same machine - MacBook Air M2, 24GB RAM, 1TB SSD.
It's not just rendering; it feels laggy in many other areas compared to 2022. For example, when the Retouch tool is selected, simply moving the cursor across the screen lags and skips, meaning I have to stop and wait a few seconds to make sure the cursor has caught up and I don't start retouching at the wrong spot.
