Most of our tips are for windows, but there may be a few that might help.

This is normal. It takes my M1 mini 5s to open an unedited RAW file. There's a lot of AI analysis going on when the file is opened.

The files that I am referring to are edited raw files. Before they are edited they snap open.

Once they are edited they open quickly but they appear without the edits and in about 5 to 10 seconds the edits appear and they look fine. Is there away to speed up the process?

Photo Raw isn't just loading the image, it's loading and rendering the edits as well. 5 to 10 seconds is already a pretty good speed.

I've already posted all of the speed tips we have in my last post.

Thank you Rick and Brian. I guess it is what it is.

    Great answers

On my system Photoshop takes even longer to open PSD file with similar edits using adjustment layers. Downside of being able to go back and adjust editing at later stage.

I'll note that On1 2022 feels significantly faster on the same machine - MacBook Air M2, 24GB RAM, 1TB SSD.

It's not just rendering; it feels laggy in many other areas compared to 2022. For example, when the Retouch tool is selected, simply moving the cursor across the screen lags and skips, meaning I have to stop and wait a few seconds to make sure the cursor has caught up and I don't start retouching at the wrong spot.

If I read Travis Butler correct I agree, with 2022 seems to work faster than 2023. I did a wedding and it takes a long time to display images even after they are corrected. It is very time consuming. I also have it when I am done adjusting the image and select the next one I will get a saving image message and that takes more time. I have had it when I finished adjusting the image and then I close the program and a box comes up and says saving image and a spinning ball shows up. I have left the computer alone and 10 minutes later still the spinning ball is still there and my laptop is hot. So I have to force the software to shutdown. So I redid the wedding in 2022. Much faster.

The spinning ball does not indicate the load time. It shows there is a problem somewhere on your pc that on1 is having trouble with. It could be caused by the way on1 accesses the files or by an internal pc problem but it's not part of the load time.
I was never able to figure out what caused the spinning ball on my old pc, but the same software on my new pc doesn't do that.
