I don't see why the Filtered Results would be so irritating, it's only visible in Grid mode and you can (usually) scroll the grid to see whatever is behind it.

You have some kind of search or filter parameters specified and there are no images in your current folder that meet those criteria whatever they may be. Just click the X in the Filtered Results box to clear whatever search has been set up.

No filter box found. Instead I went into View>Filter By Rating and saw that that had been selected. I changed it to None (none of my photos are rated) and hey presto, they have reappeared. I don't know how that got selected accidentally, but now sorted.

And may I say, that was an AWESOMELY fast reaction time for the query. Totally unexpected but appreciated.

There should still have been a Filtered Results box somewhere. It can be moved around the screen. In any case I'm glad you found a solution.

I turned that command on with a single star chosen. The screenshot below shows several ways it can be cleared by clicking anywhere an arrow points. That piece at the bottom of the screen is called the Filter Bar and clicking on different options sets up the Filter parameters.

The filtered results message was only added in the latest update. Since he doesn't see it, Martin is likely using an earlier version.

I wish there was a way to move this irritating message!

If you are talking about the Filtered Results message it can be moved. Just drag it where it isn’t in the way anymore.

I mean Search Results. Maybe you can move it on a Mac, but no way can I move it in Windoze 11

There’s something going on with your system then. That window can also be moved on both OSes. I’ve seen Rick tell other Windows uses the same thing. I would try the Delete Settings function.

I, too, can't move the Filtered Result button (Windows 11). And I don't see anything not working in ON1 PR 2023 that would push me to try the Delete Settings function and start from scratch.

Delete Settings does not force you to start from scratch. That would be the Reset function. Delete Settings just reset all your Preferences settings and the program’s various state setting which store things like where different windows and dialogs are displayed on the screen. It should ALWAYS be the first step in troubleshooting a problem with the program. It is the first thing support will want you to do if you contact them about this issue.

It is also possible that when the code was added to show the Filtered Results window something got messed up in the code that allows those to be moved around on the screen. If Delete Settings does not solve your problem it should be reported to support. That window is supposed to be movable.

The advanced search box is movable, but the 'Filtered Results' message is not. It never has been movable as far as I know.

You're right as usual. 😀 I could have sworn I moved that Filtered Results message around when I took those screen shots. My apologies to all.

    Brian,

just for interest, testing and learning, I did a "Delete Settings" when starting ON1 PR 2023.

The "Filtered Results" button is still not movable on my system with Windows 11. This is no issue for me, even if it's a bug.

One thing however is not completely correct: Delete settings does more than "just reset all your Preferences settings and the program’s various state setting which store things like where different windows and dialogs are displayed on the screen". It also deletes your smart albums.

Again, this is not a major issue, but when you run "Delete Settings" one should be aware that this happens. So before doing all this, it's good advice of taking notes or screenshots of the smart albums if you want to rebuild them. Also, taking screenshots of the settings in the Preferences helps to get quickly back to the old settings.

If you have your Browse cache on a different location than the standard in Preferences, you have a little challenge to move the Browse Cache to where it was. When you try to that, you get the message that this directory already exists. So either you delete it and start building the Browse Cache from scratch or you rename the old BrowseCache folder, so that you can create a new one and then copy the files from the old folder to the new folder. (That's what I did). Renaming the old folder backwards to it's initial name might also do the job, a little faster. I've not tested this method-.

Correction to the above: Smart Albums don't get deleted after "Delete Settings"!

They are still available. It just took a few minutes to reload them. Apologies for this incorrect information.

    Thanks Volker,

Yes, I was wrong about being able to move Delete Settings. My apologies.

It would appear that Smart Albums are stored in one of the program's preferences/settings files then. I haven't looked through them since 2023 was released. The Knowledge Base article on the command doesn't mention that; it's a bit out of date. I'll let support know it needs to be updated.

When I've used Delete Settings in the past I, reset my Preferences settings, including the Scratch Space, after deleting the PBC. I quit the program then restore it from a backup. I'd be willing to bet that renaming it before then restoring its name after would work and would be a better way to go.

Your correction came in while I was writing my response. Saves me having to go look for them. :) Thanks again.

So, does that mean we are all in agreement that Delete Settings is safe and those deleted settings are easy to recover from?

    I concur.

Yes. Delete Settings is safe. Before doing it it's best to somehow capture the current settings in Preferences and know what other settings in the user interface have been modified compared to the standard settings to get the previous settings back.
