No RAW thumbnails
Does anyone know why my RAW files aren't displaying thumbnails? If i click on one I get no image. Also the info box top right is blank. This is random in a series of photos now and again. If I "Create a Version" of one of the images, the new version loads fine.

I get the same with certain tiff files, especially when they have been returned from Topaz AI sharpen

have you tried 'Refresh preview' on the Photo menu?

I have, no effect.

I have since saved a whole bunch of full frame files in mRAW which gives the same effect. ie Photo Raw cant handle them. I think for the random files that were the subject of this question (shown in the attached image), I had switched the camera on occasion to crop mode which I think then saves the files as mRAW, which is why there are no previews or possibility of editing these files (unless first converted to JPEG or TIFF).

Which camera are you shooting with Paul? We should have looked at that from the beginning.

I was going to say Sony A7RV, but looking at the screenshot above, all the files with missing previews are with a Sony A7IV. Which I think makes my previous comment void, as the A7IV doesn't have mRAW.

Support for the a7R V was just added for the last 2023 update release. It is likely that they haven't yet implemented the mRAW format. In the list of Supported File Types and Camera Models there is the following note:
*Note We do not support RAW files shot with Pixel Shift, High Resolution modes or Dual Pixel modes that some newer digital cameras have the capacity to shoot with.
You should ask tech support to be certain.

It looks like you edited your post while I was writing mine so you can ignore it now. 😀
You should still ask support though.
