Text tool - Can it be useful?

The text tool is very limited. It isn't done on a layer, so you can't easily select the text. No drop shadows or text effects that I can find. You can change color and size. If you have any boxes overlapping, good luck trying to select what you want. 

We have layers in this program, so we should be able to do text in a layer so we can select and do whatever we want with that layer. 

We need to be able to select characters and use that as a mask.

How can you rotate text? There is no handle for that like it would be for a layer. 

I've been mostly happy with On1 2022 and 2023 for photos. Enough that I dropped my Adobe subscription. Now I was trying to put together an invitation and am seeing limitations. A lot of limitations. Drawing a mask isn't as straightforward. Text tool is pretty horrific. May look at using something else, but not sure what right now. It's a decent LR substitute, but has some severely lacking things in other areas.

  Photo Raw is a photo editing program, not a graphics program. The text tool is just a simple implementation and doesn't have rotation or other graphics abilities.

  Still, you can make your own drop shadow easily using two text boxes. Also, it's easier to select overlapping text boxes if you give them a colored background so you can see where they are and remove the background after completing the adjustments.

  If you need rotated text, the easiest way would be to create your text and export it to a PNG with a transparent background, then re-import it as a layer.

  Until ON1 decides to add graphics editing, you'll need to work with the program as it is.
