Sky Swapping
Hi all
anyone in these forum here with the same issue /feeling that the sky swapping in the latest version is not what to expect ?
Compared with NEO I see a huge difference in what should be and what ON1 is providing
Let me know what you think

I think it would be very helpful if we could see examples of what you are talking about. It is hard to make recommendations without being able to see the problem.
Having said that, the Sky Swap AI now has two models to use for creating the mask - creatively named Model A and Model B. B is the new model. Have you tried them both?
It isn't unusual to need to make some corrections to the mask. Feathering can be helpful as can adjusting the Mask's Levels slider and using the Retouching tools.
I don't use Sky Swap myself but I do use the Mask Sky command often. It uses Model A to create the mask and I've had good luck with it. I do frequently need to do some cleanup to the mask.

When On1's sky replacement was first introduced, it couldn't compare with Luminar Neo's offering. Now I would say it is better. For a start, you are not limited in the number of skies you can have: I have about 100 of my own, in different folders, as well as the ones provided by On1. The ability to tweak the mask is a plus and the recently introduced Model B means that there are fewer problems with buildings where the colour range is similar to the sky itself. Still not perfect, but getting there.

Hi all
thx for the comments@Brian... i tested both A/B Model. B is more accurate but brings along other problems like blending out the entire subject and swapping the sky around the subject - funny.
Attached two examples... to be fair the sky is different but you can use any sky to replicate this problem in On1
@Please zoom in to see my markersThe Object is difficult to work with but it should be more accurate to swap the edges of the Gondola or the lines in between the wheel. !!!!! And post-processing with Masks in such cases doesn't fit my expectations.
Thanks Henry

Did you try feathering the mask or using the Levels slider to try and recover those missing spokes?
I'm not surprised the program is having trouble with this subject. I doubt the AI models were trained very well for it. I would suggest that you pass the raw file to tech support for further training.

I suspect this is a nigh impossible task. I found a similar image online and it was not possible to get right. Luminar Neo couldn't handle it either and the mask refinement tool didn't help. Admittedly this was a Jpg. It's possible a Raw file would handle better.
Could you post your original to DropBox or WeTransfer and link it here?

.. i always make changes in RAW files..

Henry. thanks for uploading the file. It is an interesting challenge, and a useful one for improving one's sky swapping skills.
First of all, I used NoNoise and a touch of TackSharp to make the spokes of the ferris wheel a bit sharper. I think it is mostly haze.
Since there is a lot of haze/pollution in the distance, I used the haze slider and selected a replacement sky which has blue sky to go behind the spokes to help them show up. I fiddled around with the levels sliders but could probably have done better with these and by using the retouch and refine tools. I lowered the opacity as well, as I think clearly defined clouds would look out of place.
Maybe this is not what you are looking for, but to me the image is about the ferris wheel and not about the sky, so tinkering with it too much would not be something I'd want to do.
I also thought the image benefits from a crop.
I'll try Luminar Neo on it as well, but need to take a break now.

Sorry, I was just informed that the group is full for now. My apologies.

Brian, I went through all the hassle of opening a Twitter account (which I did not really want to do) and then got rejected as a beta tester saying I hadn't filled in all the details in the application: I had! Too much of a bother for me at any rate to pursue it further.
Anyway, Neo did a near perfect job using a built-in sky. Not one I would have chosen myself as I prefer to find replacements that "go" with the location. This looks like one of the Gulf states, where clouds are rare.
I don't think Luminar sell Sky AI as a separate plug-in, but I assume that a free trail would allow Henry to get this image processed in a way that appeals to him.

I’m not sure why you thought you needed to open a Twitter account, it isn’t needed. I do not have one. In any case I’m sorry I didn’t work out. At least I tried.😁

Maybe I meant Facebook. Are they the same thing? I don't do them anyway, so cancelled whatever I had to open as soon as I got rejected!
Their loss haha.
