Images are blurred unless I click on them
Lets say i've taken a bunch of photos and I want to go through them quickly and get rid of the ones that I don't like such as the ones that are out of focus. I tend to do this in filmstrip view and view each image one at a time and then dislike any that I don't want so I can delete them at the end.
The problem i've noticed is that as I go along the filmstrip the main image that shows up is blurry, like it's in some kind of preview mode. If I click the image to zoom in then it snaps to the full photo and its no longer blurry.
This is really annoying as I can't tell if the image is out of focus or its caused due to the preview image and i'm having to zoom into every photo to make it properly load the image.
I've also noticed it stops the focus mask from working properly as well as it will only highlight a few areas of the image in green and then when I click the image a lot more of it is then coloured in so this is another reason i'm having to zoom in each time.
Is there a setting I can turn on so when I select an image to view it shows the full photo straight away rather than a blurred preview?

I thought i'd found the setting that was causing the issue, view -> preview quality, but it's already set to accurate and the other option, fast, sounds like it would use an even lower quality image.

If you're using catalogs, the previews should already be built, if not, it will take time depending on your PC and GPU to create them. Also, if you have other programs running that will slow down the rendering as well.
Which method are you using to do this and what are your PC specs and GPU in particular?
By the way, High quality is the slowest render. If you're just culling, low quality would be faster.

I copied these new photos over into a catalog but as there's no visual way to know if its finished cataloging i'm just listening to the fans in the computer and its pretty quiet now so i'm guessing its finished, there were only around 40 photos. Only other thing running is a web browser.
When you say picking high quality do you mean the preview quality? I picked the better quality as i'd prefer accuracy over speed and it shouldn't be too slow on my system.Computer specs

The specs look good. The high quality preview will always be slower, but there are other factors too.

Actually this doesn't seem to be a performance thing at all and switching to fast preview does the same thing which is that the main image is blurred and stays blurred untill you click on it. So I could leave it an hour and nothing would change so things like the GPU or changing to fast preview will not help.
Using the focus mask is good at showing how bad it is. If you turn on focus mask and switch to the next image in the timeline you'll hardly see any green as its blurred/out of focus. As soon as you click the image it seems to load the real photo and the blurriness has gone and you then see a lot more green.
I've been trying to find a setting to say when I select a photo show me the photo and not a blurred preview but so far have been unable to find one.0 -
Yes you have. That's exactly what High quality preview is for.
You should probably ask ON1 tech support about this. I don't have this problem at all and don't see why you should. If you can, try to get a screenshot of the problem and include it with the info requested here...

When I posted this I forgot to come back and update.
When i'm in filmstrip view to view a new set of photos I want to quickly go through them and see which ones are in focus and which ones aren't so I can delete, this is one of the best use cases for the filmstrip view in my opinoin. The problem is that On1 shows EVERY being blurry/out of focus so it's impossible to see the good ones to the bad ones
It's crazy to think it was released like this.
On1 support have admitted it's an issue with the software so i'm wondering how everyone else is able to use filmstrip mode when it's basically useless at displaying the photos unless you click into every single photo.0 -
It happens with every photo regardless if its a jpg or any other format and support think it's down to the On1 rendering engine not being to render the image clearly..
Here's an example. Standard On1 rendering on the left and the right one is when you force a refresh by zooming into the image and then back out which then displays the photo as it was taken.0 -
It's better to view the above image by clicking this link and viewing full size
