ON1 sidecars and Lightroom
AnsweredI'm trying to wean myself off Lightroom Classic, say no more. In my new ON1 2023 I got a popup saying that I could 'export' my Lightroom edits to ON1. I thought that this could be useful. There was a warning that it could take some time. Understatement, for it took 48 hours for 90000 images and this is not a slow computer! So far so good, but when I opened a folder of outputted .jpgs there were .on1 sidecars. I though that the sidecars were supposed to stay with the original raw file in the original folder? So why are thay in with folders of outputted .jpgs? I only shoot raw and there are .on1 sidecars in the original images folders.
So, what did I do wrong?
Thanks
Donald

You did not do anything wrong.
Have you seen Lightroom Migration Tool - ON1 Photo RAW?
There is also The Official ON1 Guide to Leaving Adobe Lightroom.
Those two articles explain the entire process.

Thanks Brian: It's always good to be told I did nothing wrong. Doesn't happen often! Although I failed to check exactly what would be imported. It was no great problem to delete all the sidecars associated with the jpgs for they just got in the way.
