This sounds like a Mac issue to me. I don't know Mac, but if Brian is around he might have an idea. In the mean time, you can send a message to ON1 support.

I’ll be home and able to take a look at this in about an hour.

Thanks Brian...Just for your info....running Ventura 13.2.1 and the new MacBook has a M2 chip. I am still trying to figure out this computer coming from a 2015 MacBook Pro. Thanks again for checking this out for me.

I saw the same thing the first time I tried to use the Plug-in. The solution is to launch ON1 NoNoise AI 2023 and leave it running. Now go to Photos and you will be able to send your photos to it.

After you have done this once, it is no longer necessary to open Photos first. The plug-in will open it correctly from here on out.

I tried the first method and it worked well. After I did that I closed both NoNoise and Photos. When went to Photos, picked a photo went to edit and tried NoNoise the error message came up. Do I always have to have NoNoise, Effects, and Portraits always open. That not how it was on my old computer. Something is not right. What do you think?

I did exactly as I described above before posting to be sure things worked properly for me and they are. I just tested again and it is still working as it should.

I only tried with NoNoise AI. You may have to do this for each of the plug-ins, I haven't tested any of the others yet.

One thing I did find interesting is that when I first got the message about the helper app not running, I looked in Activity Monitor and it actually was.

My suggestion is to download the plug-ins once again just to be sure you have the very latest versions, re-install each of them, then go through the process of running each and sending to them from Photos. It isn't necessary to actually do any editing with them. All you need is to establish that connection then you can Cancel out of the plug-in. That should save some time getting things going.

If things are still not working after that you'll have to talk with tech support.

Try going to settings - search for "extensions", then select photo extensions and make sure the app is checkmarked.

Thanks Jeff, but that isn't the problem. NoNoise AI is on in my Settings and I still had the problem on my first attempt to pass a photo from Photos to it. I even checked Activity Monitor to verify that the Helper app was in fact running and I still go the error message.

We found the problem, the NoNoise AI, Effects and Portrait  needed to be turned on in the Login Items in the system settings. Once that was on, it's working the way it should. Thanks to the tech team for their help.

Just for clarity, you added them to the Allow in the Background section, right?

The apps were in the login items area but the buttons were not activated. I turned them on and it started to work with Apple Photos. I believe they work in the background. I did what Stevie suggested and it worked

Right, but there are two sections to the Login Items. The top of the panel is for programs which should be run when you log onto your system. They do not need to be in that section. The lower section is for programs which are allowed to run in the background. This is where they need to be turned on.

I'm sure you have everything right as it is working and Stevie knows his stuff. I'm adding this to clarify for others trying to solve the same problem.

You’re right, there are two areas. The top area (looks like a box)you can add or delete apps at startup. The area that needed to be turned on is the one below it.
