vertical images appearing horizontal using Import From Device

I just uploaded some photos i took today on my Panasonic G9 and GX9.  When I imported  them using the command "Import From Device" - in browse and edit mode the vertical images would display horizontal (they would initially display vertical but then flip to horizontal).  As none of my older images showed this bad behavior, I decided to delete them all and start again.  This time I manually copied them to my hard drive - and then created the catalog.  This time all the vertical images behaved nicely.  

Looks like there is a bug of some kind in the "Import from Device" command
