Unfortunately, the program doesn't offer any kind of progress check for the migration. You might be able to take a look at what's being run in the background on your system and identify and monitor it there.

Yes, you should leave the program running until the process finishes. When the program is not running, neither is the background task to finish the migration.

Only Cataloged folders get previews that are pre-built and permanently available for viewing. That is managed by a separate background task so there is no telling when any particular image's preview will be done. The migration process does create a Catalog for the migrated photos so you're good there. Again, it's just going to take some time to finish.

The Knowledge Base has this article which explains how image previews are cached for both Cataloged folders and those which are not. Catalogs and Caches - ON1 Photo RAW 2022 & ON1 PHOTO RAW 2021

Thanks for the quick reply Brian.

I think I'll just leave PR running in the background and see where it is in a day or so. All the folders of interest are in the Catalog so hopefully nothing mroe to do.

Just to double check my understanding - I assume that once the photos are in the Catalog with the "LR" badge, that the data migration from Lightroom is complete, and everything else is processing within PR itself? I ask because I'm using a trial of Lightroom, so I want to be sure the migration stage is complete so I can uninstall LR.

That is my understanding as well. Tech support can provide a more definitive answer.
