Canon R7 RAW Burst-file can't be opened

Canons R7 has a burst mode that saves several pictures in one cr3-file.
In Canons DPP (Digital Photo Professional) a tool is included to extract one single picture as a single raw-file. It creates a new file, only containing one image.
But this picture can't be opened in ON1 (2023.1) 'Normal' cr3-files can be opened. Selected data format is raw and not the compressed c-raw that has caused some troubles according to older threads.
If extracted in DPP and reviewed in DPP, the single picture still shows the logo of a RAW burst-file (stack of frames with an R on them). So ON1 kind of seems to see this extracted single picture still as a burst-file, containing multiple pictures.
The overview shows a thumbnail of the image, but once opened only a grey person with no entry sign is shown and ON1 kind of freezes. To get back to the overview or to another picture I have to click on the button on the top right. Shortcut (g) or others won't work.
Any ideas why these exported files won't open and how to work around? Converting to dng seemed to cause a big loss in sharpness.

Photo RAW does not support some of the advanced shooting modes like burst-mode or pixel-shift, etc. Your only option is to export from DPP to something PR can read like a DNG, PSD, TIFF, or JPEG.

I know that, but since the extracted file is a single raw file I thought there may be the possibility to open them like any other cr3-file. Are there any experiences of quality loss after converting to dng?

I think that is a subjective evaluation that each of us must make for ourself.
I found I got better results from my .cr2 files over the same photo which had been converted to .dng. I even went back and extracted the embedded raw files from my .dngs.

Well if there's no other option I'll give it a new try.
