Getting stuck in the process

1 When you replace a sky, it's essentially a new layer with the original sky masked out. The original ski is still there, you just can't see it. That means if you try to use some tools on it, you're editing a sky that you can't see. If you want to edit the sky after replacing it, you have 3 options...

    1. The easiest way is to  Export, which will bake in the new sky, then reopen the new image.
    2. Knowing that you want to edit it, you could add the sky yourself on a new layer (all of the skies are available in the extras folder) while still using sky AI to make the mask for you. that way, it's not hidden
    3. Depending on what kind of lightning bolt it is, you could also add it on it's own layer which doesn't involve the new sky.

    2) Resize ALWAYS creates a new file. After you click DONE, go back to browse and open the resized image. A description of how Resize works starts on page 209 in the user guide.

    Thanks for the reply.

For the sky, can a stamped layer be made to combine the new sky?  This is done in other photo editors.

Yes, I was going to add a 4th option — Duplicate the Layer with the replaced sky then Merge the 2 Layers together to bake in the sky so you can brush in the lightning bolts. This will also create a new file — an .onphoto file with the same name as the original image file.

Sky AI is not on an accessible layer, so, no, you can't stamp it directly, however as Brian suggests, duplicating it first, then stamping it would work.

The method I outlined works like a charm.
