after installing 2023.5 today it repeatedly stalled from time to time when I was browsing on the local SDD of my MB pro (2022, M1 pro, 32 GB RAM), i. e. after clicking on one or the other directory on the file tree pane, the preview tiles in the main window wiggled a bit, then the spinning ball of death was shown, vanished shortly, but the next mouse event reliably makes it to reappear and stay. The emergency stop window reports ON1 Photo Raw not responding, and the program has to be killed.
After about a dozen trial and error runs (and about one hour later) I had nailed it down to this:
- I use Raycast to resize some windows to take the full real estate *within* the current desktop, i. e. not by pressing the full screen button (nor the menu item), and so I did with ON1.
- Now, when I click from the directory pane on a window with pictures of the same orientation and/or aspect ratio, everything's fine, but as soon I select a directory containing frames of different dimensions, formats and or orientation, then it's beach ball time again.
- Using the window of ON1 in some other dimensions, i.e. not completely covering the desktop surface, or use it in "real" full screen, everything works as expected.
Just wanted to share this. Maybe there'll be a fix someday, and I won't claim any refund for beta testing, which in former times was done before release. ;-)
