How To Make A Folder
I want to move all the photos from one of my Smart Albums to one folder. Smart Album (through search and keyword} found all my photos from various folders but now I want to have them in the same folder. Is there a way to do that in ON1?

I use to use Disk Warrior which I believe checked file attributes but it does not work on my OS. Currently, I am doing a surface scan using Tech Tool eDrive, which shows over 5 million blocks. I have not reached a million. How long is this going to take? I am lost without the computer.
Can you check file attributes using Tech Tool? I am on the eDrive right now and cannot check.

I also used to use Disk Warrior. Those are not the attributes I'm talking about. Those are the normal read, write, & execute permissions that are a part of Unix. The attributes I mean are Extended Attributes and they do much more. They are part of the OS's security system among other things.

Is it under File Structures, Tech Tool or do I have to do a google search to find the download you suggested?

It comes from a guy that writes a lot of utility programs for working with the OS and file system, etc. His name is Howard Oakley and his web site is The Eclectic Light Company.
The program you want is called Precise 1.14. You should read the documentation (it has a Help manual) and some of the articles on it in his blog that explains what it does and how it works. I haven't played with it much myself so I probably won't be able to answer too many questions. I was thinking you can run it against the Photo RAW app and save its report for me to download and compare against my copy.

Brian, I did get some bad blocks but it stated no files were on the blocks. I also ran file attributes but before getting results I had a power failure and even though I have battery backup the computer shut down anyway. Stevie had me do some things but no luck so I am waiting to hear back form him, again.

There wouldn't have to be files there. If the program was trying to write to those blocks (it wasn't - you tried 2 different drives) that would prevent the file from being written which would cause the program to throw an error.
A good battery backup will shutdown your system for you before the battery dies. Their primary function is not to keep the computer running, just to keep it running long enough to do a clean shutdown so no work gets lost.
Let me know what he has to say.

Brian, I hope that was you through the emails and you got copies of my reports. I have now heard from Brent, Support and thanked me for my screen recording of what I am trying to do but no ETA as to when they can investigate. So it looks like I am at the end of the road and not going to get this issue resolved, at least anytime soon if ever. I guess I am going to have to look at another way to organize so I can process the photos. I may have to try my old LR6 to organize my photos even though I prefer not too. i am really wanting to learn and use PR.

W, Brian and I are moderators, not tech support. we try to help when we can but we don't work for ON1.

Rick, I understand that you and Brian do not wok for ON1. I had received an email from someone called Brian and assumed it was Brian the moderator. I was just trying to make sure Brian was receiving reports he was asking about since I had not heard from him. Or is there a Brian in support I am confusing the two?

Just wanted to clarify since we wouldn't receive reports unless you send them directly to us.

Rick, I think I getting confused with all of the different support staff so I am not sure where the emails ended up so I am sending the info I sent Brian or thought I did.
Brain, I briefed the info, maybe a little above my head, but I ran the program and I am not really sure what I am looking at. Also, I read the help manual the best I could but I am not sure what I am looking at. I have a basic idea but it is just a bunch of information. To me nothing looks wrong or I should say the report does not say anything is wrong. I ran the bookmark resolver and it does not say anything is wrong, either. Not sure how to capture the whole Bookmark Resolver report to send a copy if you want it. Hopefully I did it right. Any comments are appreciated.0 -
Thanks for that. What I was looking for is the Extended Attributes which apparently Photo RAW does not have. I figured it was a long shot and I knew the info presented is quite esoteric but it was worth a shot.
I did not get any of your emails, sorry. You're going to have to work this one through with support as I am now totally out of ideas.

Today's How to diagnose and control login and background items article from Howard Oakley brings up a couple more things for you to try which I'll summarize below. Read the article before trying the 2nd item. It involves eliminating conflicts from background processes that might be conflicting with Photo RAW's ability to do its thing for you.
1) Create a new User account for your system then log out of your account and log in to the new one. Try doing the move from there. If it works that is a very strong indicator that something you have loaded for your user account is the cause which leads to the 2nd step.
2) Start eliminating the background items from being loaded and test again. You can try pressing a Shift key after pressing the Return key when you log in. Keep it pressed until the Dock appears. If it works now the hard part starts in identifying exactly which one or combination of them is the culprit. I'll leave that explanation to Howard's article.
Good luck.

A quick look at my login items before following your suggestions show CCC which I have seen issues with ON1 when using as a BU. That is another issue I am going to have figure out later on and may look for another BU. Also, I am not sure what the Color Munk DisplayTray problem is. See the att'd. Also, there may be a couple more I can eliminate. I will start with your idea first. Thanks.

I use CCC on a daily basis. However, I do not use its live monitoring feature and my backup drive is not connected to the computer until I'm ready to do my daily backup. That isn't the problem in my experience.
Unfortunately, nothing got attached so I can't see whatever you wanted me to see. Is it Color Munk or is it Color Munki which is part of a calibration system.

It seems that my last post is not showing. Anyway I have tried all of your suggestions with no luck. Setting up another account will not allow me to access my photos on the internal drive even as administrator but will access folders, photos on external drive, but I cannot Catalog for a Smart Album because there is no Make Catalog available even right clicking. I tried the shift key option, too, but ON1 will not launch, Vulkan problem.
CCC is not live but connected and run manually. It seems when I use ON1, Browse, it changes date in the sidecar files of all the photos even though I do not open every photo and I do not have every folder cataloged. This means I have a lot photos sent to CCC Safety Net that should not have gone there. I talked to CCC Support a few years back and they said they were not all that familiar with ON1. So until I have a chance to see what is going on with CCC and ON1 I am having to rely on my Time Machine for BU.
The attachments show what I have on my login and the error.
I may try to remove a few items from Log In

The permissions thing is my bad. I should have told you you'll have to give permissions to your photos folder. Use the Finder's Get Info dialog, unlock it, and set the permissions for 'everyone' to Read & Write. You can reset it after the test.
When disabling things, I would start with Android File Transfer Agent followed by Image Transfer Utility 2. Both of those will need access to your file system so they stand out as possible causes.

Well it looks like I made one folder but unfortunately I had to use my LR6. I imported, chose source(s), moved not copied, chose location and made one folder. Unfortunately I had a mess to straighten out but it looks like it will work. Not what I wanted and not the best workflow but it seems to the only thing that works for me. PR read the folder; the only problem is scrolling in Browse, it is very temperamental. It is easy to drag a folder into another folder and then loose it. I have to be careful because I just about lost my House construction folder but I found it. Now I have to search for duplicates, especially the ones created from all my trials. I am really trying to give ON1 a chance so hopefully finding duplicates and editing works for me. We will see if support follows through and finds a solution. Thanks for all of the help.
