Access external catalogue (SSD) on Mac desktop
I’m looking for a simple (offline) method for sharing a catalogue/library on an external SSD between two computers (desktop and laptop). Is there a tutorial or instructions anywhere? In LR this was very straightforward, and I understand ON1 works differently but I’m guessing there must be a way to bring a catalogue on the road and update with new shots. Many thanks

The Catalog in Photo RAW is a database. Even though multiple machines can share the same set of images with an external drive, the database itself in on the system that drive is connected to.
You can use the Backup/Restore feature to sync the two systems though. Assuming you are currently working on your desktop machine and want to move things to the laptop, run the Backup command on the desktop machine. That will create a .onbackup file in PR's default folder for your pictures. If this is already on your external drive all you need to do is connect it to the laptop and run the Restore function.
When you return, Backup on laptop, Restore on desktop and everything will be in sync.

Thanks Brian, I thought Backup and Restore were machine specific. I assume any presets you make would be moved between machines also. I definitely will try this tomorrow.

The backup file is actually nothing more than a zip file of parts of your user data with an .onbackup extension. Change that extension to .zip and you can use any file compression manager to view their contents and learn exactly what goes into them and from where.
