Thanks for the info and advice Brian,

The only problem I see with at is if I Uninstall everything I won't have anything to Reinstall if it doesn't work as I will have deleted the original DMG for the original trial. And I don't think I can have another trial and im only 5 days into it.

Would it be best to put in a support request and see what they say.I will add all of the images which I posted on here and see what they suggest ?

If you wan't to keep the old version installer then move it out of the Downloads folder where it cannot be seen when downloading the newer one.

You can also change the name of both the program's application folder and the program file itself. Append the build number to it or something like that. The installer just overwrites the current program folder with a new one of the same name. I do this to keep both the current release and beta versions I am testing.

I would still get rid of the preferences file though. There could be something in it that is preventing the update. Again, I'm just guessing.

When you contact support give them the link to this thread. Save yourself some work. They can catch up from here.

Also, customer service has been known to extend the trial period for people who have trouble getting it to run in a reasonable amount of time.

Also, you can keep a copy of your user data by renaming its folder if you want to have it for a backup.

    F.A.O Brian Lawson.

Hi Brian I thought I would give you an update regarding the issue.

Tech Support replied to me and gave me a link to the newer version which now works although it didn't at first.

I kept all of the data which you said delete in the Library and also moved the original DMG to my desktop.

I then downloaded via the support link and I had exactly the same issue as before with the download only going as far as the Safari icon.

So I then followed your instructions to delete the Library items etc and then Re Downloaded via the Link  from support and everything downloaded and the program is as it should be.

Not quite sure why the problem arose but obviously an issue somewhere until the library items were deleted.

I would like to thank you for all of your help and advice it is very much appreciated

    Kind Regards Adrian

Very unimpressed. Anything I scan the only things the AI keywords that come up is the location from the exif file and that it's muted. Not one person, tree, flower, rock, mountain, sky, cloud, building or anything else. The way it was hyped it was going to come up with all these automatically. Even a close up of a person with nothing else of note in the photo and it can't ID it as a person.

Support posted a new article to the Knowledge Base last week stating that they have discovered a problem where changing the Preferences setting for which processor is used for doing the AI work can cause it to fail in all cases, not just keyword searching. Be sure to leave the setting at Auto.

This seems to relate to the AI keyword the "stand alone" version but not the On1 PhotoRaw 2023.5 version since the Preferences in the program are quite different to those on the article.

The latest I've heard from Tech Support is that the stand alone version is more advanced than the AI keyword function embedded in PhotoRaw 2023 and that they are working (no time scale) on updating PhotoRaw at some point.

I am currently asking myself whether to purchase the new Standalone Keyword AI 2023 at the introductory price of £39 or purchase ON1 RAW 2023 so I will get the other Apps too for £78 and hope that they do update the AI Keyword to the same as the new standalone version.

I think there still is a big difference between more advanced and not working at all. I hope this gets fixed before the next paid version.

Looks like even setting the processor used  for AI back to Auto does not fix it when  you ever had is set to anything  else.

Keyword AI still seems broken as I only get  location and "Vivid" keyword.

Even removing folder from the Cataloged Folders and adding it again gives the same result.

Resetting preferences also did not resolve it.

Any way to recover from this bug ?

Which program are we talking about Paul? Photo RAW and Keyword AI have different model databases for identifying objects. Keyword AI has the newer engine which will eventually be added to Photo RAW.

This isn't a bug so much as it is just how the program works for now. The model needs more training on a wider variety of photos.

I am talking about PR and having the setting of the AI processor set to anything but Auto seemingly permanently break keyword AI functionality is what I would call a bug.

I'm sure when the AI keyword first came in PR 2022 it did recognise other things than Location and Vivid. To me it seems to have gone awry with the release of PR2023.

Yes, that part is a bug and the engineers are aware of it and working on a fix. Hopefully, for the next release.
