Different menus on MacBookPro and iMac Desktop
AnsweredHi members of the ON1forum,
I am trying to follow the video courses. But I am a little bit frustrated. On both machines I got the version2023.5(17.5.1.14051) and I get a different layout when selecting "Mask" >>>
How come ... and most of all what can I do to get the same layout on both machines?
I have printscreens ... but how to upload??
Kindest regards,
jef

If you're screenshots are 10mb or less, just drop them here on a text box. If you get an error, refresh the page and try again. On1 is working on why the error pops up.

You haven't shown us any menus so I'm going to guess that you are actually talking about the Toolbar along the left edge of the window? What you see there will depend upon exactly which tool you have chosen to work with. Some of those icon locations hold more than one tool and its appearance will be determined by the one which was last selected.

Hi Brian,
It is the upper menu for Mask. In the left toolbar you select mask and then I get 2 different toolbars
Maybe it is better that I post a close up of the upper toolbar>0 -
I don't see anything different. What are you looking at?

Your terminology is confusing. There isn't an "upper" or "lower" toolbar. The Toolbar is the column of icons you see running down the left side of the window. One of those icons is for the Masking Group of tools. When you select it at the top of the screen you see the tool options. That will also change depending upon which tool is currently selected. From there you also choose from the different types of masking tools available. The options available will also change to reflect the chosen masking tool.
I highly recommend you download the User Guide and read through the sections on how the user interface is laid out and what each piece does. Also the section of the Masking tools would explain a lot of this to you.

Perhaps the OP is talking about the missing gear icon and the missing Invert and Reset buttons on the far right above the fight photo.
It looks like all other selections are the same except paint in on one and paint out on the other.

I deleted my previous post.
I think it's the font size making the text too wide for the screen. Try setting it smaller. If that doesn't work, it might be a screen resolution problem.

Hereby what I mean with the upper menu

That is still NOT A MENU. That is the Tool Options bar. Terminology counts. See page 75 in the User Guide for an overview of all the Edit Module's UI components.
Are you talking about the missing Gear widget and the Insert and Reset buttons? I think the problem is the right side column has been dragged too wide and is covering those widgets. Try making that right-hand column more narrow. Position the pointer over the left edge of the column and watch for the handle to appear. Then you can click and drag to resize the column.

Hi Brian you're right ... right-hand column was too narrow. Thnx for the tip.

Glad we got it sorted out.

This is very interesting. I'd like to know how it's possible. When I tested this yesterday, making the right column very wide did not hide that same info at the top. Instead the text automatically reduced size to fit, like this...
The only way I can force this problem to happen is by having both panels open and one of them so wide that it covers half the screen...
Looking at the original screenshot above, those panels shouldn't be wide enough to cause this.
Interesting.

I think it depends upon your screen size. I was able to replicate it but I had to make the entire Photo RAW window pretty narrow first.
