Saving Settings takes AGES!
Once I've done editing a photo, even the slightest edit like only changing the exposure, the message "Saving settings" appears and stays there for 10 to 20 minutes roughly.
I'm on Win11, running on a AMD Ryzen 9 7950X 16-Core, latest Nvidia drivers for GeForce RTX 3060 Ti installed, files stored on a Synology 720+ with SSD cache, 1Gb LAN.
The logfile always states the same from the moment the msg appears until it dissappears.
Either thousands of lines:
Event (1077) on line xxx of ONExploreCatalogWatcherController.cpp
and/or
Event (1005) on line xxxx of BRPreviewGeneratorBridge.cpp
The only poor man solution is to reboot my PC.

What happens when you move an image off the Synology drive and onto a local drive?

Hello Brian.
I've moved 2 pictures to an M.2 SSD connected through USB 3.1 to my PC. No issues.
But I also do not have any more issues now with files on the Synology after I restarted ON1.
Don't think that's a meaningful test.
To me it looks as if over time ON1 as if the program gets more and more entangled in file-intensive operations over time and then at some point no longer has time for the essential stuff.
Because why are catalog previews created and is the browser cache updated when you are editing/saving a photo, which is one of the main tasks of On1 and should be given absolute priority one.
And would you mind shedding some light onto the event 1077? If I look at the logfile after the restart, there are by far less of those events logged. Whereas before I had literally thousands of those 1077s. Could it be that this event is filesystem related?0 -
I do not know what causes the 1077 error, sorry. You'll have to ask tech support about it.
Repeat the test the next time things get slow before restarting the program so it will be more meaningful. There have been reports in the past of slow access to NAS drives. This would tell if it is the drive or the program's state at that time. You'd then have some evidence to support your theory when you present it to support to ask about the problem.

Ok will do. Many thanks for your time!

If they say anything about the 1077 error let us know.
