I can't speak to why you are not getting any responses from tech support, sorry. They have always answered my questions within a day or two depending upon how busy they are. Are you sure the responses are not being caught by a spam filter?

Which model iMac do you have?  If your system is older, your GPU may not be able to keep up with the demands being made by all the new AI features. NoNoise AI, Masking AI, and Sharpen AI all take place when the photo is first opened, before it can be displayed onscreen. That is most likely the cause of the delay you are seeing and there is no way around it.

There are a lot of 27" iMac models that have been released over the years. I need to know exactly which one you have. What year is it?

Thank you. Do you use Catalogs? If not, when you move to a new folder in the Browser all of the images there have to be re-rendered the first time they are viewed full screen. Cataloged folders have their image previews already rendered and stored in the PerfectBrowseCache. With the Preferences > System > Cache Size slider set to 5000MB when that space gets filled the program has to remove older previews to make room for the new previews. I keep mine set at 10000MB but I also have all of my photo folders in Catalogs.

There isn't much you can do about the time it takes to load an image in the Editor except to get a faster GPU with more VRAM. When you open a file in the Editor of course the first thing that has to happen is the file gets opened and its contents are read into memory. However, it does not get displayed yet. First all the AI auto masks get created. Then if the file has been edited previously, any NoNoise AI and/or Sharpening AI gets applied. That all takes some time. Finally the RAW data is demosaiced into a viewable image which can then be displayed on the screen.

thank you brian. i have all my folders in catalogs. now i understand why sometimes it takes only a few secs to open a foto. and most of the time it takes up to 30 secs. is there a possibility to load a certain folder in the cache? so i would not have to wait for each foto to appear.

actually i don't like the idea of buiying a new mac - money. but the way the on1 app runs now is not useful. are you sure there is no way around?

There are two caches. The PBC is for cataloged images, the other is for non-cataloged images. Because you have all your folders cataloged there isn't any need to load the previews in the cache. They are already in the PerfectBrowseCache. The Knowledge Base article Catalogs and Caches - ON1 Photo RAW  explains how they work.

Yes, I am sure there isn't any way around the load times except a faster computer. Sorry. It's most likely going to get worse as more features get added in the future. It's that way for all software.
