Can't see my cataloged folders on a new mac
AnsweredON1 Photo RAW 2023.
I have my pictures on an external hard drive. I move it between my Macs. How to view cataloged folder on another mac?

Catalogs are not a part of where your photos live. They are a database on the Mac being used to view them. I would do a Backup on the Mac which has the Catalogs then move the .onbackup file that is created by the backup to the other machine where you can do a Restore. This will synchronize the Catalogs, Effects, and other Extras you have between the two machines. Now when you connect the photos drive both machines should contain the Catalog(s) and you're back in business.

Thanks for your quick answer.
Does this mean that every time I move the hard drive between my macs and create a backup, I have to copy the .onbackup file?
Is there a better way to do this?0 -
No, not every time. Just the once. As long as you are using the .on1 sidecar files. They contain both metadata and editing info so that information will transfer with the photos. When the other Mac sees what it will consider to be new pictures, it will add them to its Catalog and add their editing data to its internal database. The only thing you will have to sync manually is new Extras you may add.
