Yes. XMP is not a Lightroom type file. It is an interchange format for different programs to be able to share the meta data applied to your photos. Any program that supports the XMP format can read them regardless of who created them.

What would be the point, Stephanie?

Even though (actual) metadata in XMP files would be understandable by ON1 programs, Lr also saves its edit settings in XMP files, and they would be effectively meaningless in, say, Photo RAW.

The values in an Lr XMP file will have little or no read-across to the equivalent settings in Photo RAW - you will not get matching edits if you import Lr XMP into an ON1 program, so if that's your aim, you're likely to be disappointed.

    Dear Keith

that was the point. I want to buy a preset for LR but I don't want to rent LR or PS. I have ON1 and Affinity Photo but I can't use it. There are so many presets out there which I can't use. Thats sad.

Photo RAW does not have the same controls as Lightroom so knowing the instructions for setting those controls is worthless. Presets are not cross compatible between different programs.
