I would say yes, but you can get the 2023 trial and see for yourself. You can do the same with the 2024 trial if you want to wait till it's released.

I need to use it right away.

When will I be able to use the 2024 trial?

    I wouldn't know, 2024 hasn't been released yet.

2023 trial is available right now.

How do get the 2023 trial. The On1 site that I accessed only was about the 2024 offer

I opened the link. I saw a AI offer. Is that what you mean?

No, you are right - there isn't any link for 2023 anymore. That's my bad. Assuming this gets through this time.

I would contact Customer Support and ask for one. Use the Submit a request link on this page.

The link for the ON1 Photo RAW 2023 trial is still available on the page mentioned above. Here is the direct page: https://www.on1.com/products/photo-raw/download/

    Thanks Kahlie,

The page say Photo RAW 2024 but nothing about PR 2023 so it's a bit confusing.

    Thanks. I've downloading it now.

    It's a freebie.

Maybe soon PR 2024 will be available and I can purchase that?

Will there be directions about how the upgrade will interface with my RAW 2022?

No, there won't be any directions. Each year's release only migrates from the previous year's release. If you skip a year you have to migrate everything manually.

I see that I can order 2024 now.

    I don't really need MAX, do I?

That is something you'll have to decide for yourself. Do you use any of the plug-ins now? If not, then no, you probably do not need Max. If you do or think you might want to integrate PR with other processing software then yes, you will or you will have to buy the individual plug-ins you need separately.

The AI Portrait seemed to work better! Will I have it with the non-MAX one.

Can I create smaller files to share and use the larger ones to make prints?

  • Brian Lawson Community moderator

Yes, Portrait AI is part of Photo RAW. Max would allow you to call Portrait AI from another program. The same for all the other modules which are sold separately as plug-ins — they are all included with PR.

You can create files of any size you like for what ever purpose you like.

I can create a smaller jpg and a larger jpg from the same file?

  • Brian Lawson Community moderator

Yes, of course. Your original image is never changed. All the edits are saved in a database and the .on1 files then you Export the finished photo to whatever size you need. None of this has changed since 2022 or ever.

I went ahead and ordered the upgrade. I think this means I can use the 2023 version without doing anything?

Yes, you now own 2023 as well as 2024 once it is released. Just Sign In like normal and you're on your way.

I used to use LR5 and it had a proofing application.

I'm not sure how to make two differently sized files. When I open export I only see one size option.

Might I suggest you download the User Guide and go through it. Export coverage starts on page 229. There are also a ton of training videos that can teach this to you. There is a size section in the Export settings that allows you to specify the size you need.

I was going along great until a couple of days ago when the On1RAW started to become very sluggish, actually freezing.

I was trying to sync the retouch for one image to an identically posed image.

When I Force Quit the application I received a message that I'd lose any unsaved changes.

Yes, this is true. If you tell the OS to abort the program there isn't any way for it to save your changes first.

There are background OS processes which can make the program sluggish. When Spotlight is rebuilding its indexes for instance. That will clear up when that background task completes, usually in a few minutes depending upon how many files it has to go through.
