    You can reduce the effect and set it to your liking. Go find that tab in Preferences and check out the options.

    Yes I agree at 100% it is too much.  A workflow that works for me is set the overall Amount to 75% and turn off Apply Local Adjustments Automatically.  Then once the develop tab adjustments are done you can turn on the locals and see what happens.  Note also the locals have the feathering turned up quite high which you can go in and dial it back.

    I have to say that after my initial, first-day disappointment with Brilliance AI, the function is now both quite handy and significantly reducing my editing time.  Learning to use and gain experience with it made a big difference.
