Super select is intended to be used as a starting point, you select an area then add an effect to it.

If you already have an effect, then use Quick Mask AI from the masking menu.

Thanks Rick! I thought the superselect tool replaced the ai select tool. First impression is good. Some UI changes that i need to get used to but the masking took for instance seems much more responsive and faster.

Make sure you get the user guide for reference while you're learning the Program.

If you already have an Effect you can also open the Masking Options and use the Mask AI from there.
