Hi Andrew, now we have something to work with! 😁

The program can be very resource intensive during certain tasks and it will push your system to its limits.

Are you migrating your Lightroom library? That is going to take quite some time with a quarter million photos and yes, it will push your system right to its limits.

Have you set up any Catalogs yet? That also is very resource intensive and pushes to those limits once again. (Catalogs for your migrated photos are being created for you).

Once those processes have finished things will calm down. I've had 2024 open for about an hour just sitting in the background until I need to check something so I can answer a question for someone (like I'm doing now 😉) and PR is using about 8% GPU on my M1 mini.

The Keyword AI process which is turned on by default is also GPU intensive. If you do not want the program to assign keywords for you that needs to be turned off in Preferences > Keyword AI. You can turn off certain types of keywords or everything. I have EVERYTHING turned off and it still assigns new keywords I don't want from time to time.

Honestly, I'm not doing anything in the app. I installed it and then I tried to explore the interface. Before I'd even opened or imported a photo it was painfully slow. Then I imported a handful (about 2 dozen) RAW and JPEG files, then just started clicking around in the interface. After every mouse click the app would throw up the spinning lollypop and not respond for anywhere from 30 seconds to 2 minutes. It was impossible to use. I made sure to use it after a fresh restart of my Mac with no other apps running, too (which I never have to do with any other app). To be honest, last night I just got fed up and uninstalled it. If an app is that bad out of the gate, I can only imagine how much worse it will perform over time.

It will not get worse. It will get better. Look at some of the other threads on these forms about performance when program gets started.

If you truly given up on using the program, don’t bother responding. If you want help, I’m here.

You're right. I'm looking for an app that works out of the gate, not one I have to start troubleshooting from the install. It is 2023, after all. Thanks for offering support, but I think I'll look at other solutions. Peace out.
