A sharp preview

As I understand it, 'fast' shows you the embedded jpg and accurate shows you the raw, but until the raw is loaded you'll see the jpg there first. If you're set to 'accurate', try waiting a bit to see if it changes on it's own. If it does it's working properly, if not you'll want to tell tech support and include all of the details about the problem.

OK it so it does not work the right way. Preview is set to "accurate" but sharpening only happens on magnification or going into develop.

I have this same issue exactly.

Fast or accurate make no difference.

    Update:

(sometimes) If I have the filmstrip open at the bottom, then click an image in the filmstrip, the large image will snap into focus

    quickly as expected.

Tom, the statement doesn't mean anything unless you also say if you're in fast or accurate mode when this happens.

Fast or accurate, it's the same and my cr2 files do not have an embedded jpg.

AFAIK Canon CR2 files always have an embedded jpg.

The Canon 6D has the option for RAW only. But it is a moot point because, concerning this issue, fast or accurate make no difference.

This is different. RAW + JPG writes a RAW file (xxx.cr2) and a jpg (xxx.jpg), thus two files to the card. RAW only still has an embedded jpg in the RAW file itself which is used for preview.

I use Raw only as well, but I still have an embedded jpg. There is also a database of previews in addition to reading the actual RAW. All of these come into effect at one point or another.

Even so, concerning the topic of this thread, fast or accurate makes no difference on my screen.

Sorry to see this issue not corrected on in the final 2019 release.

Hi guys, I'm using Photo Raw since 2018. This issue is always present also in the new 2021 version.
Now why is so difficult to have a sharp preview in the jpg photos?

    Thanks for any help.

    Best regards, Massimo
