According to the user guide (Page 72)...

Temperature: This slider shifts the color either cooler (blue) or warmer (yellow). When editing a raw file, the °K button will be blue, which means that the temperature is measured in degrees Kelvin. Clicking the button will change the slider to a relative color ramp. (The Kelvin ramp is only available when working with raw photos; other formats use the relative slider.)

I'm using RAW but I don't see it either, I don't even see a button. Looks like a possible bug. Go ahead and file a service request. let us know the results.

Edited: Just out of curiosity, what camera are you using. I want to see if it's Tier 1 or 2. Mine happens to be Tier 2.

Under the latest update...In ON1 PR,

The Kelvin button is shown and clickable on my Pentax KP (.PEF) raw files.

It is also shown on my Nikon D5200 (.NEF) raw files.

And it is shown on my Panasonic Lumix (.RW2) raw files.

Rick, could you please explain the Tier 1 and 2 stuff? Never heard that reference before.

    Thanks,

    Kevin

Kevin, In the last update, On1 announced that they had added camera profiles to the Tone and color filter. Since my camera does have profiles I thought that might be handy. However on installing the update I saw that Camera profiles was initially shown in the filter, but vanished a few seconds later. I mentioned this 'bug' to On1 but never heard any more about it. After waiting quite some time, it occured to me to see if there was anything in the FAQ about it. What I found is that there are two Tiers of cameras. Tier 1 uses On1s RAW engine and enables camera profiles among other things, Tier 2 uses your Op sys RAW engine and disables camera profiles. I'm a bit PO'ed about this since i expect to have the same features as everyone else and there is no mention of tiers in the documents that I've seen. Now I'm wondering in kelvin is another feature that Tier 2 doesn't support. This is very dissapointing and now I'm wondering if the poor recovery I have from blown out areas is because of the different engine. I'm not sure if I'm more upset about the Tiers or that On1 seems to be hiding it. grrrr....

BTW, I have an Olympus E-30

Thanks Rick. I see that list now that you told me where to go and look for it. I also did some quick checks on some of my photos from my various cameras. Fortunately, all of mine are Tier 1, but one of them does not have any camera profiles, just ON1 default profiles. The other two have varying degree of camera profiles as well as the ON1 default profiles. I have not played with any of the profiles, but I can definitely see curve responses change and visual changes when I scroll down thru them. I sort of figured that anything in a camera profile could be done without a camera profile, if you worked the effect filter well enough. Maybe that is not the case.

I used to use NIK as well, but I do not anymore because I think I can get to the same point myself in Effects, but that may not be the case either :)

I take it that you do not even see the camera profile drop down window at all. I am very surprised that there is an operating system RAW engine in Windows at all. That would be something new to me and I worked as a Windows programmer for most of my life. I know there is a device driver, but that would not be a RAW processing engine AFAIK. Maybe a DirectShow filter or something along those lines, but I do not think that would be applicable for a camera.

Kevin, that's correct, I don't see the drop down at all. Don't know where this engine came from, just know it's not On1's, you know, the one I'm paying them for.

Note that only RAW files will show a Kelvin Temp.

Appearntly my error. I just left clicked on a RAW file in an opened folder to start ON1 Photo Raw 2018, however it started in "Layers"mode and did create a PSD-copy of my Rawfile, thus disabling degrees Kelvin for color Temperature !

May be there is a possibility to start ON1 Photo Raw  2018 in Browse mode when left clicking on an RAW (in my case .orf) file ?

P.C. Heslenfeld,  in the On1 preferences dialog  make sure you have "Start in Browse" selected. If that's not it I have no other clue.

Selecting 'Start in Browse' won't fix this problem. Clicking a file to open it always opens it in Layers. By opening it that way  you're creating your own problem because you're starting On1 as if it's a plugin which not only creates the PSD but disables many of the features you'd have otherwise. Instead you should be opening On1 as standalone and selecting the file in the browser.

For my RAW files (.CR2 from Canon 40D and 70D) I never get the Kelvin button. Even more, it does not show 'Camera profile' either. So apparently, these RAW files are not actually treated as RAW files.

Frank, you and I have 'Tier 2' cameras. That means we're using a different Raw engine than the Tier 1 cameras and we don't get all of the same options that they do. I find this dissapointing when they advertise new features like profiles knowing full well 1/2 of their customers will never see it. If you go to the search at the top and look for tier, you'll find a faq on it.

I have a Canon 40D and 70D. Both are in the Tier 1 list, so they should be working with the new engine.

Frank, Yes they should. If they aren't you should be letting On1 know that photo raw isn't detecting your camera properly. You paid for those features.

I am shooting in mRAW (medium raw). The new engine (Tier 1) only works with full RAW format. That's probaby why my CR2 do not have a Kelvin button or a Camera Profile option.
