What is ON1sandbox.exe
This question was posted in the "other" forum.
WOULD SOMEONE FROM ON1 PLEASE ANSWER IT?
And by the way, I posted this yesterday and my post disappeared. Not very helpful for a Help Forum.

The ON1 Sandbox is a background task to improve the stability of ON1 Photo Raw 2018. The ON1 sandbox scans your machine's HD for corrupt/problematic files and identifies these files to be skipped rather than crash the Photo RAW application.

As I understand it the On1 plus forum has a higher priority than this one. We don't know how often On1 checks this forum. Have you submitted a support request? It's the most direct route. If you get an answer, let us know.
BTW, I never saw a post from you before this and AFAIK no one is deleting posts.

There is no more ON1 plus forum as such. Supposedly this forum is for everyone to post technical questions, and the Plus forums are now dedicated to photography.
Weird about my post. I definitely posted it. I'm sure no one is deleting them arbitrarily.

Interesting, i didn't know that about the plus forum. still, a support req is still ypu're best bet.

I would also really like to know, though I hardly think this simple question justifies a support ticket.

I will wager a guess. Usually Sandboxes are considered a play area to test a software for viruses and such. The monitoring program can watch how the "suspect" executable program acts and what it tries to do. The sandbox keeps the suspect program from actually doing anything to the operating system. It is sort of a virtual world for the program to run in.
Interpolating out from that, ON1 could be using a sandbox to run something that could potentially cause unexpected consequences to the op system.
Just a guess.

According to tech support, "The ON1sandbox is apart of ON1 PHOTO RAW 2018 and is meant to isolate problematic files that can cause ON1 PHOTO RAW 2018 to crash."
And "problematic files" means "problematic files that may be processed during the cataloguing process or by navigating to a folder that has a corrupted jpg or damaged file."

That is smart of them. Let the problematic file crash the sandbox, but not ON1.

Haven't seen any mention of this in the thread, just noticed that there is a sandbog log file If you were curious as to what it's doing.
C:\Users\(your name here)\AppData\Roaming\ON1\ON1 Sandbox 2018\ON1Sandbox.log
