Adding to Cataloged folders

I have separate folders arranged by year for each of my cameras.

I have cataloged all my folders, but I'm adding images to the current folders as I shoot.

My question is, What happens to the NEW image files that I'm adding to a cataloged folder?
Are they automatocally added to the catalog or do I need to catalog them by dragging them into the "Drop your folders here to catalog" box?

I also find it is necessary to click on "Read Metadata from Photo" in order to fully update my EXIF information every time I download a new raw image file. Can anything be done to make this automatic when opening a folder of new images?

  If you use On1 to move your Photos it should take care of updating the catalog and exif for you. If you manually add photos to a folder outside of On1 I imagine you'd need to 'touch' it so On1 knows it's there. All you'd have to do is just open that folder and let On1 display what's inside of it.

  From the manual on page 40 (Aug 2018)

  When you go through a folder of photos, Browse caches thumbnails and preview images as well as extracted metadata

  Try that and see if it works.
