Deleting multiple images at the time.
Is there a way to delete all images selected for deletion in one go?

While in Browse, you can select all of the images you want to delete and simply hit the Delete key on the keyboard. It will prompt you with "are you sure?"
If you have used the X tag to mark each of the photos you want to delete, then what I do is go to the filter section on the left side of the screen (in Browse), and filter on just the X box. This will display only the files you marked with the X. Now when you do a select all (Ctrl A), you can safely delete all of these files.
Sometimes I do it with an X tag, and sometimes not. Most of the time I rate the photos I want to keep with a star rating. Then I sort by rating and this will put all of the non-rated photos at the top or the bottom of Browse. This lets me easily select all of the non-rated photos. Then I do a Delete.

Many thanks Kevin,
I just migrated from LR to ON1. Lots of thinks to learn.

I found that you actually can't just press delete key. By mistake i found that if you highlight multiple images then go to the edit tab up top and click delete it will then let you delete all the highlighted images.
when i select the images and hit the actual delete key it will only give me the option to delete the first image.

William, if that's true then it's working differently for you than for me. To check it, I selected a dozen photos and created a new sub folder to copy them in to. I tried it a couple of different ways, but the delete key always deleted all of the highlighted files. When I hit the key, it asks if I want to delete the files and tells me how many, the number is always correct.
I'm using windows if that matters.

Going back to look. I was in Develop mode not browse mode. In browse mode delete multiple images works just fine. While your in develop mode you can only delete one at a time unless you select delete from the Edit menu up top.0 -
William, you're changing all the rules. No one mentioned develop. Of course develop works differently than the browser.

not changing rules. i was pointing out that i was incorrect on my original reply.

Oh, my apologies. Glad we're all on the same page again.

When I select files to delete and press delete, I get this message, not "Are You Sure?"
"Are you sure you want to move 280 item(s) to the Trash? Any associated versions will be moved as well."
When I say ok, all files are deleted and I must press Command-X to undo the deletion.
This isn't working for me at all.

What isn't working for you Leonard? What you described is how the program is supposed to work when you are in the browser with multiple images selected; pressing the Delete key will prompt you to delete everything that has been selected. It sounds like you have everything in the folder selected, 280 images.
When you are in the editor pressing the delete key will only delete the image you are currently working on. If you have multiple images selected in the filmstrip as William has shown above to delete them all you have to use the Edit > Delete command.

Leonard, Perhaps you're shooting both raw/jpg and you have selected "Treat raw + jpg as single photo"; if so selecting 140 raw images will result in 280 deletions.

I tried deleting 600 pics and it was taking forever, so I canceled that, and now I am trying to delete 50 RAW files. Taking forever, like 10-15 minutes and no progress on the task bar (smallest iota of progress just charted). Program won't do anything else while this is going. Is this normal?

Randolph, no that is not normal. Are you using catalogs and if so, is the cataloging process still running? That will slow things down quite a bit until it finishes but I wouldn't think it should take so long to delete files.
If cataloging is still running you can remove the catalog and test the file delete again to see if there is an affect. However, you'll have to start the cataloging process over if you still want to use them.

I don't think I'm using catalogs. I'm doing this from simply a Local Drive.

A couple of options to try... turn off any anti-virus software and also any anti-malware software and try it again. Also, you can exit ON1 and delete the files using Windows Explorer (or the Mac equivalent) and then go back into ON1 and it will rescan and correct it's catalogs when necessary. I import files using an external sw package into ON1 catologs but I have found that it is best to exit ON1 prior to putting or removing anything from places that you have cataloged in ON1.

Thanks for the tips. I'm not using catalogs, so I can't understand why this is taking forever and a day.

Make sure you have sidecars turned on. It is extremely important to use them. If the internal database of edits for your files gets hosed up, you will learn the hard way how important local sidecar files are... just thought I would mention that.

Sometimes anti-virus software will simply beat the heck out of your system while you are using an app to remove files from the hard drive. In Windows, this is pretty easy to monitor using the task manager and sorting by CPU %. If you see the anti-virus up there near the top while you are deleting files, then you know they are fighting each other.

Kevin, thank you for your persistence. :-) I use a Mac, so no anti-virus software running here.

I ended up moving all the photos with 1+ stars into a new folder via PR, then deleting the remaining pictures via Finder, then moving the starred photos back into the main folder. Much quicker.

What are your system specs?

MacBook Pro late 2016, 2.6GHz i7, 16 GB, SSD main drive, Radeon Pro 450, etc. It's a decent machine.
Pics are on an external Lacie Raid HD connected via TB3.
Usually I edit from an external SSD before storing pics longterm on the other drives, but this was working on an older gig.

That's basically what I'm running only mine is a 2017 model. I've got my photos on an external SSD and I've added a 2nd SSD for the program's scratch space and to store its browser preview cache so I don't fill my internal drive.
How much free space is remaining on your internal drive?
As a test, what happens if you copy a couple folders of photos from the LaCie to your internal SSD then delete some of the images from one of those folders from within ON1s browser?

So I ran into an issue trying to delete a bunch of files from inside of Browse in ON1. It sat there forever and did not progress. I did have an issue sometime in the last week where ON1 2019 hung and I had to forcibly end it. And I began to notice that when I exited ON1 after that, that it took a bit longer than normal to close the database. So when this hang happened while trying to delete a bunch of files, I decided to go an clear/reset some things in ON1. Specifically... I went into Preferences/System and I clicked on Empty in the Browse Cache section. And even though I do not use Lightroom, I also hit the Clear Cache button in that section. Then I exited and restarted ON1 and tried to delete the same bunch of files inside of Browse and it did it withing a couple of seconds.
