Some small improvements I would like to see in On1 Photo RAW 2019
First of all improving the stability. While there are certainly improvements been made in 2018 updates, it still is not the most stable program. Then to my list of small things that are certainly not showstoppers but kinda bug you a little :-)
1. Using Time in Filters: I got this wrong for several times until I understood a basic flaw in my workflow. You can't hit the Calendar "button" and just write the time period you want to filter your pictures. You have to first choose "Custom" from the drop down menu and then enter the time. It would be more logical if either the calendar was grey until you choose the "custom" or then pressing the Calendar wold automatically turn on "custom".
2. Edit the capture date: I'm using the d/m/y version but when entering Edit capture date, that is still shown in m/d/y. It should follow the preferences and use the same date format that you have chosen to use.
3. Description field: clicking on it and start to write your text, the text will not start from the beginning but rather in the middle of the first line so you I have to delete the empty spaces before my text.
4. Writing metadata on several pictures at once: This only works in thumbnail view. Apparently, this is by design. I have no idea why it shouldn't work in filmstrip mode also so hope this will be considered in future updates.
This about sums my ideas :-) I really dig this software and hopefully these things will get changed in 2019 versions. I'm really delighted to see the Keywords edit in 2019. Looking forward to this and other additions to the software.

1) Good catch. I never use the calendar so never noticed. But you're right, it's a bug. It's also a bug that you can't sort for no stars.
2) This seems to be a problem throughout Photo Raw. It doesn't remember your preferences for date/time format anywhere that I can see. It also can't distinguish between your preferred export format and rename format.
3) I don't have that problem. Maybe you've gotten some text pre-filled somehow.
4) If it were to work in filmstrip view in Browse it would also have to work in Develop and Effects where there is currently no place to add metadata.
There are quite a few little things that could be improved in Photo raw, but they're just annoyances not game changers. So, fingers crossed hoping they get improved in time.

Hi Rick,
3) OK... I have to check this but can you suggest how I could have some text pre-filled?
4) You have a point here. Let's see how the future unfolds here :-)
Absolutely agreed. When you have such good software you kinda hope to find it even better.

3) I was wondering about that. Maybe you're using Import that's adding a preset with some spaces in it? If not, then maybe you've added a keyword but the Description box already had some spaces in it so they got added at the same time as the keyword? If you saved a metadata preset it might have some spaces in there by accident.
Are any of these possible? If I think of anything else, I'll let you know.

Thanks for the info. I now find that it does not function this way on all the pictures. I tried to look my Import features and at least there the description field did not have any empty spaces. Strange..anyway I'll keep my eye on the Import page. I have not saved a metadata preset.
