Sidecar files : Migration from Windows to Mac
Hi all!
I wonder if there are any differences between the sidecard files (.on1) on Windows and Mac. I moved from Windows to Mac recently and copied my photos over to a Mac drive, kept the folder structure and added the top folder to my indexed folder in Photo Raw - just as I did on Windows. But now ON1 Photo Raw does not recognize the edits I did to some pictures while I was still on Windows. The sidecar files are in the same folder as the corresponding RAW files, but ON1 Photo Raw does not show the edits. Even the small icon in the lower right corner is not there.
I already checked the access rights, but they are the same as on newly created sidecar files.
What I tested so far is, that I removed the settings section from one Windows based .on1 file using a text editor (Atom) and suddenly Photo Raw shows the icon. Of course no other settings are applied as I removed the regarding section.
Any hints on this? Do I need to convert the sidecar files in some way?
Thanks a lot your any help in advance and best regards,
Oliver

Add-On Info : My photos are of different age of course - so some of them may be edited with Photo Raw 2017. Later I used 2018 on Windows and now lates 2018 version on Mac.

This is kind of scary if Photo Raw isn't reading it's own sidecar files. The whole point of sidecars is to keep your edits intact.
As far as I know, if you select a photo and there is a sidecar for it, those edits should be loaded and added to the database. There should be no conversion needed.
You could check the log (Help|Show On1 log) to see if there are errors.

Tried to monitor Photo RAW activity with opensnoop. Unfortunately it does not show access to the sidecar files while being in browse mode. Of course it does when I enter develop mode as it overwrites the existing sidecar file.
Hm, just wondering if this may be a Mojave based issue? Unfortunately I don´t know a Mac User with High Sierra and ON1 Photo RAW to test. Maybe I need to wait for the upcoming update.

i think you should just add all of these details to a support request and send it in. Don't forget to attach the log file.

Yes, will do so. But I want to try out a few things before I do that.

So, I guess I can mark this issue as solved somehow.
All my edits are back and here is what I did:
1) Removed my photo folder from indexed folders
2) Wrote a shell script to recursively walk through the folders and use "touch" to make all sidecar files the same date as their corresponding RAW files.
3) Added my photo folder back to indexed folders
4) Waited for indexing to finishAfter that all my edits are visible again and the pictures that I edited as marked by the small icon in the lower right.
I won´t call this an ON1 Photo Raw bug I think. I believe it maybe has to do with my recent update to Mojave without waiting for the appropriate update for Photo Raw. Who knows?
Anyway I am happy that I have my edits back. :)
Wish you all the best and take care!
