I noticed moving layers to order them was a bit quirky. Text appears only to work on the base layer.

Possibly the layers isn't quite finished since focus stacking also isn't working.

Have you found a way to start with a new blank layer?

Yes, moving layers is tricky. I find that moving a layer up is easier than moving one down.

I don't see a way to make a new blank layer, but not sure why you'd need one. I don't see colour fill layers either.

So if text is only on the base layer, does that mean that a higher layer will cover it? Along the same lines, I tried exporting 2 layers that were merged but the exported result was only the base layer.

In the text tool, I found that if you start a line with a carriage return (to leave space above the text) that the box is no longer transparent.

I use a new blank layer to start a composite / collage

My experience with text it shows through all layers.

I think layers is incomplete as of now

I just noticed on the release notes that they already know about the insertion point when moving layers.

Peter, you were asking about starting with a blank layer. There is no option in On1 to do that but you can fudge it if you want to.

To make a blank canvas... open any photo, use the move tool and make the image very small and off to the side, crop the canvas to eliminate the image completely then if needed you can resize the blank canvas.

You'll have to wait for an update if you need to resize the canvas since that hasn't been implemented yet.
