Improving performance on an older slower iMac: How?!!
Im using a Mid 2011, 27" iMac as one of my workstations.
Im running On1 PhotoRaw 2019 on it.
Needless to say, the app is running super slowly.
Its so slow, I want to scream every time I move from one image to the next when Im in Edit mode. (30-60 seconds of beach balling for EVERY SINGLE IMAGE) Making me nuts!!
Yes, I should just use a late model iMac, and this issue would probably disappear.
But until then, WHAT can I possibly do to optimize the performance of On1 so I don't have to shoot myself before I get to the end of an edit session?
Can I turn something off to streamline the processing perhaps?
There must be something I can do.
Question is: What is it?
Please chime in.
Thanks.,

I don't use a mac but the first suggestion would be to check the On1 specs and see if there is something you can update.

To start, turn off every other application.
Is there room for more memory in your iMac.
Check out the recommended system requirements.

I'm running 2019 beta also on an iMac 2011 3.1 Ghz with 1GB AMD Radeon video card and in edit mode moving from one image to next takes 1 second, I run 12GB RAM as this is easy to upgrade yourself but I also removed the DVD drive and replaced it with a second SSD drive which is the one I use to do my photo editing on. I paid someone £120 to fit and configure the SSD which makes a massive difference.
I would suggest a RAM Upgrade first as this is cheap and you can do it yourself.

Yes. My ram is maxed out.
No I’m not running any other memory intensive apps or processes concurrently.
Im looking for settings within the app itself that would speed it up.
And no, I don’t want to use “Fast Raw Preview” setting. I need to be able to see exactly what my adjusted images look like as I work on them. That is the WHOLE point of using an app of this type.

The only settings I know of are under preferences.
You don't mention how your specs compare to the recommended system requirements.
